Seasonal Flu Vaccine Offers 2014/15 The LMC Buying Groups Federation has concluded negotiations with flu vaccine companies for the 2014/15 season and we can now announce that our 1 st preferred supplier for 2014/15 is once again Pfizer. Our joint second preferred suppliers are Abbott and MASTA and our alternative supplier is Janssen. The continuing occurrence of problems in the manufacture and delivery of vaccines this year has once again proved that it is unwise for practices to consider ordering all their vaccine supplies from only one supplier. We have therefore been determined to offer Buying Group members the widest choice of reliable suppliers as well as the highest profit per dose in the market. Pfizer is offering a discount of 58% on orders confirmed before 20 December 2013 thereby guaranteeing our practice members a maximum profit per dose (before clawback) of 6.83 and 55.5% (PPD of 6.58 before clawback) on orders confirmed after that date. Pfizer are able to offer excellent profit per dose on a lower priced alternative vaccine (Enzira 44.5% discount on orders before 20 December and 43% after that date). In addition, our deal offers an excellent sale or return, credit period, and delivery arrangement flexibility and reserve facility. Pfizer have, through their previous incarnation as Wyeth, been one of our preferred suppliers for the past 13 years and have been consistently reliable. Pfizer vaccines are not suitable for children under 5 years; however, an alternative trivalent vaccine can be supplied on request. Please ask at the time of ordering. Please note this does not include the supply of the nasal flu vaccine. Our 2 nd preferred suppliers are Abbott and MASTA. Although both companies have experienced delivery problems this year both have previously been very reliable. Both are offering a 54% discount yielding 6.58 before clawback on orders confirmed before 30 January 2014 and 53% after that date. Abbott offers a lower priced alternative. MASTA offer a choice of two higher priced vaccines from different manufacturers plus a lower priced alternative. Janssen, formally Crucell, are unique in offering discounts based on a sliding scale. The discount for those ordering up to 499 vaccines is only 51.5% but for orders exceeding 1500 doses they are offering 58.5%. In view of the problems they experienced in 2012 we are recommending them as an alternative supplier. However we are happy to report that Janssen had no delivery problems in 2013. Details of our approved suppliers offers, including tables describing each company s offer in terms of maximum profit per dose and an explanation of how this is calculated can be found on the following pages. More information is available on our website www.lmcbuyinggroups.co.uk/members. You will have to log in to access this information. Please note that the offers are available while stocks last, so please place your orders at your earliest convenience.

Once again, in light of this year s problems, we would urge practices to split their vaccine orders between at least two companies to mitigate against the risk of problems arising with supply and delivery of vaccines next autumn. With best wishes for a really productive flu season in 2014/15. Your LMC Buying Group PS. If you did not use LMC Buying Group approved suppliers for the present flu season it would certainly be worth your while taking the time to look at the invoices for payment you receive from your current vaccine supplier to see if the discounted price matches that which you were promised when you placed your orders. You may be surprised and/or disappointed to find that the profit per dose (which you can calculate using the ready reckoner on our website) does not match or even come close to that which you would have earned had you used our approved suppliers. You need have no such fears when using the suppliers we recommend.
