We re the only city still hosting this important event and after 29 years I m proud to say it s still going strong. - Eric H. Kearney, President/CEO, African American Chamber, Greater Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky Bringing people together to honor historic strengths and values of the Black Family. All good vibes! Event Details: An annual three-day celebration. Typically attracts 20,000 25,000 attendees. Festivities encompass a City-wide Community Parade, National, Regional and Local Musicians/Performances (blues, R&B, jazz, poets, spoken word artists, gospel, etc.), Interactive Arts, Spirituality, Kids, and Seniors Pavilions, a Job Fair, Health Screenings, Corporate and Non-Profit Booths/ Resources, Games, Free Opening Ceremony Breakfast for the Community with Inspiring Speakers, Honorees, and more. Receives tremendous media attention, including national coverage. Located at Sawyer Point and several other key locations. A non-profit event produced by JazJordan, Inc. Tracey Artis, director.
Page 3 What to Expect 2016 Black Family Reunion Results: Despite heavy rain day on day one, over 15,000 guests packed Sawyer Point. Immense media coverage included: The Cincinnati Enquirer several feature stories, including the Weekend cover story, Community, Solidarity, Making Memories: Black Family Reunion marries faith, food, music. Live shots by Channels 5, 9, 12 & 19 throughout the weekend, and interviews on all the station morning shows WVXU Public Radio 10-min. interview about the significance of the event, and other radio and interviews and airtime, including live remotes. National news coverage included Cleveland s Ch. 19 TV News, The Washington Times, The Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Chronicle, Seattle Pi, and 30 other news sources picked up by the Associated Press. Over 2,000 job-hunters attended the BFR Job Fair at Sharonville Convention Center. 521 business professionals, clergy, media representatives, and community members attended the BFR Opening Heritage Breakfast. The Booth family was named Family of the Year. Keynote speaker was nationally-renowned Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, Jr. Over 1,300 participated/attended the Annual Community Parade in Avondale; Grand Marshall was Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac. The BFR Website achieved 33,402 page views August 2016. The 2016 Facebook Event Page was active with 5,700 enlisted members.
