Martha Mobley, Editor April 2016 Issue The President s Letter Greetings CASA Members! Already March with it's Windy Days, and a Blessed Early Easter, has passed! Now April, with its showers, flowers, IRS and SOS has quickly arrived! Our Monthly Socials at Capt. John's Dry Dock Seafood Restaurant are settling into a series of well attended very enjoyable Shag Dance Events. Thanks to Linda McVey for providing the St. Patrick's Decorations for our March Social. Also, a big thanks to June and Linda for teaching the "Up Town Funk" Line Dance. Our faithful attending members, and guests, are having lots of fun. Those of you who have not participated have lost out - however, don't fear! You can redeem yourself by joining in beginning with our April 10th. 2016 Social. And of course - all following fun monthly socials! Our April Social will be very special in that we have a World Class, very highly respected Shag Competition Couple presenting a special workshop just in time for SOS! Our Members, Gene & Nancy Pope will show us a newly choreographed Shag Step that we can use to show our skills at SOS. Come early, learn their new step, enjoy a great Seafood Dinner and dance the night away. David Pendergraph, also a member, and great DJ, will present tunes for the evening. David senses our music, and dance, pleasures and will usually play the "right song" at the "right time". Please let David, or myself, know when you feel the need for a special song or dance. SOS is just a couple of weeks away and I hope everyone will be attending. The dates are: April 15-24. Please see Jay Strickland for your SOS Card and save yourself $5.00 plus not waiting in line at North Myrtle Beach burning valuable dancing time. The SOS Spring Parade is a very memorable event, and high- light, on the second Saturday (April 23rd.) beginning at 1:00 PM. This year's parade will follow the time proven route going down N. Main Street to Ocean Drive with a right turn headed South. Remember, this is an adult themed parade with lots of well planned and thought out surprises. Expect to catch lots of beads, and trinkets, being tossed from the floats and walking entries. Personally, I like to be positioned near the starting point where everyone is fresh, excited, beads are plentiful, and the entries are more evenly spaced. Additionally, you can more easily find your own personal space for viewing and interacting with the parade participants! You will see lots of friends on entries from area clubs. Now that we have a great location for our Monthly Socials and population is building, I feel we should return to normal Shag Club operations with our "Re-Up" and "Fundraiser" events. One possibility is a "Mid Year Re-Up" Social with Half-Priced Dues to get back on schedule. Our Board will decide if and when his should occur. I will keep you posted. Please Travel Safely and act responsibly when attending SOS and other Shag Related Events. Represent our CASA Group with class, so all can view us as the "Class Act" that we really strive to enjoy! Looking forward to seeing each of 2016 Officers President Tom Pritchett Vice President Jay Strickland Secretary Linda McVey Treasurer Cynthia Strickland Sergeant At Arms Neil Flynt Board Members Pansy Flynt Diane Hayes Please, support your Club and your Officers!
