Dear Parent or guardian Beads of Courage (a 501(c)3 taxexempt organization) will be hosting the First Annual Courage in Motion DanceaThon to raise funds to support Beads of Courage and the Center for ArtsinMedicine. Through innovative, artsinmedicine programs provided by Beads of Courage and the Center for ArtsinMedicine, children coping with cancer and other serious illness have HOPE, experience JOY, and find COURAGE. Funds raised from the Courage in Motion DanceaThon will also help with the development and implementation of a new, innovative movement program for children coping with serious illness. In order for your son or daughter to participate in the Courage in Motion 10Hour DanceaThon we need your permission. The key elements of the DanceaThon are bulleted below. Where and When: Saturday, April 2, 2010 10am to 8pm Onsite checkin begins at 9:00 am Bear Down Gym, The University of Arizona campus Who IS eligible: Children 1218 years of age are eligible to participate Participants must raise a minimum of $60 in donations to participate by March 25, 2011. OTHER Details: Each participant is required to raise a minimum of $60 or more to participate. Participants may choose to register online and make their $60 donation directly, or use the pledge forms provided to solicit support from friends and family. All participants must return a signed pledge sheet and payment for the minimum pledge no later than March 25, 2011 to be registered as a Courage in Motion participant. All donations are 100% taxdeductible (tax id# 20272150000), and Beads of Courage will send a receipt of donation for taxrelated purposes. Every participant will receive an event T shirt, and event bag that includes raffle tickets, coupons and cool free stuff donated by our event sponsors. There will be 10minute rest breaks between each hour, and live performances from professional and semiprofessional Tucson dance companies Snacks & beverages are provided complimentary throughout the event for all participants including a pizza party at completion of the event Participants 12 to 15 years of age will be required to have a parent or an adult supervisor sign the participant in and out of the event. No exceptions. The DanceaThon will conclude with a Pizza Party and Awards presentation that begins at 6:30 pm. Awards will be given for best costumes (per themed hour), and for the most funds raised. (See attached) The Courage inmotion DanceaThon will be chaperoned by adults on a 1:15 adult to child ratio, and the premises will be secured for your child s safety. Parents may leave registered children at the event and are encouraged to return to attend the Awards Ceremony that begins at 6:30pm. The attached Registration Form must be returned with your child s collected donations to Beads of Courage no later than March 25, 2011.
