Organizational Objectives- PEPFAR The U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) is a U.S. Government initiative to support partner nations respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It is the largest commitment by any nation to combat a single disease internationally in history. Since 2003, the U.S. Government has committed more than $52 billion to: Bilateral HIV/AIDS programs, the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and bilateral TB. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is America's premier health promotion, prevention, and preparedness agency and a global leader in public health. CDC s Division of Global HIV/TB (DGHT) provides critical leadership in the fight against HIV/TB by assisting partner governments to strengthen laboratory, epidemiology, surveillance, public health evaluation and workforce capacity. 11/16/2016 5

BD-PEPFAR Labs for Life PPP 2013 MOU- The PPP benefits Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique and India The goals of the Labs for Life collaboration are to: i. Improve the quality of laboratory services to attain national, regional, or international laboratory accreditation ii. Train laboratory personnel to impart skills for forecasting and optimization of lab supplies iii. Develop curriculum and training on laboratory equipment maintenance iv. Leverage HIV laboratory systems to address non-communicable diseases such as diabetes v. Increase the capability of health systems to adopt point-of-care technologies
