Neurexa product line Actively promoting movement Information for specialist dealers Neurexa product line Ottobock 1

Neurexa product line Neurexa is a product line designed for the treatment of patients after a stroke. The products are developed in close collaboration with professionals, physicians and therapists to ensure optimum functionality and comfort. 2 Ottobock Neurexa product line

Their special design makes the products in the Neurexa line valuable tools during rehabilitation: They all promote active movement. After all, the main focus during any type of rehabilitation after a stroke is to help reintegrate those who have been affected into their social and professional environments. classified as such when sensory or motor deficits persist longer than 24 hours. Three months after the acute phase, one quarter of all patients continue to rely on a wheelchair, two-thirds have a very slow and unstable gait and one third suffer from a total loss of arm function. General information regarding strokes A stroke is defined as an event which results in restricted blood flow to the brain. This causes nerve cells to die, leading to a loss of the respective brain functions. A stroke is typically only Neurexa product line Ottobock 3

Genu Neurexa Art. no. 8165 Indication Paresis of leg muscles resulting in hyperextension of the knee, for example after a stroke, intervertebral disc prolapse in the lumbar spine, peripheral nerve damage, etc. How it works The Genu Neurexa stabilises the knee; at the same time, the patella is stabilised, hyperextension is prevented and collateral instability is reduced. The components of the brace lockable bilateral aluminium splints and rigid, crossed straps in the hollow of the knee offer good mechanical stability in combination with the large textile cover. This also has a positive influence on the proprioceptors, which affect the sensorimotor system. The wearer can achieve good control over the knee during active rehabilitation training, such as gait training or movement exercises between a chair and bed or chair and toilet. The Genu Neurexa also relieves the wearer s pain, as the brace holds the patella in position and prevents involuntary movement of the knee, hyperextension and lateral movements. Features A classical support according to the three-point principal using rigid straps and lockable splints The joint components permit restriction of extension and flexion in 10 increments Circular circumferential straps Made of climate-regulating material, with properties that counteract heat development and extend the product s daily duration of use Enhanced wearer comfort due to selection of optimal materials and strapping arrangement Frontally open version makes it easy for therapists, family members and wearers to put on the brace Machine washable at 40 C (104 F) B A 15 cm 15 cm Size Circumference A (cm) Circumference B (cm) XS 32 35 38 42 S 35 38 42 46 M 38 41 46 50 L 41 44 50 54 XL 44 48 54 58 4 Ottobock Neurexa product line

Manu Neurexa plus and hand support rest Art. no. 28P30/28P31 Indication Paresis of the forearm muscles with resulting weakness of the wrist, for example after a stroke, intervertebral disc prolapse in the cervical spine, injury of the brachial plexus, peripheral nerve damage. Spasticities up to grade 1 on the Ashworth scale are permitted. How it works The orthosis enables functional positioning of the hand according to the patient s capabilities at the point when it is initially used. If the orthosis is used early on, the hand can already be continuously aligned in a physiological functional position at the beginning of therapy, provided the user does not have spasticity. The orthosis can be accordingly adjusted to malpositions and can be continuously adjusted to the wrist during or after therapy. Pain can be prevented or reduced through the positioning of the hand. The hand support can be applied on either the palmar or volar side. This enables the best possible support for the patient s gripping function, depending on their capabilities. In addition, a contracture of the fingers can be prevented through the optional use of the hand positioning splint, as this can be worn during the night as well. A unique function is that the Manu Neurexa plus can be combined with the Omo Neurexa plus to form a complete SEWHO (shoulder-elbow-wrist-hand orthosis). This significantly reinforces the effect of the Omo Neurexa plus in particular: reducing spasticity, relieving and repositioning the shoulder and thereby improving the gait pattern. Features Only one universal size and side Thanks to its special design, the user can put on the orthosis themselves with just one hand, depending on their capabilities The wrist, which can be fixed in any position, allows the orthosis to be flexibly adapted to the hand Improved mobility (functional position) Optional hand support rest (28P31) for positioning the fingers/hand Unique option to combine with the Omo Neurexa plus Lightweight design covers as little skin as possible for increased patient acceptance The soft TriTech material of the pads ensures wearer comfort The pads are machine washable at 40 C Size Universal Neurexa product line Ottobock 5

Omo Neurexa plus Art. no. 5065N Indication Shoulder pain and dysfunction (including subluxation) for example after stroke, intervertebral disc prolapse in the cervical spine, peripheral nerve damage, etc. How it works The Omo Neurexa positions the shoulder by precisely centring the head of the humerus in the shoulder joint socket. Improved sensorimotor control and positioning of the shoulder joint and arm result in better posture and balance. The user is able to concentrate more on walking instead of worrying about the affected area, which improves the gait pattern in particular. The arm is rotated slightly outwards and extended in the orthosis, which counteracts the development of the typical spastic pattern consisting of flexion and internal rotation. Specific weakened muscles can be stimulated through the use of additional silicone pads. This reduces pain in many cases and subluxations that have already developed can be minimised. Features The orthosis has a positive influence on the proprioceptors which, in turn, benefits the sensorimotor system The orthosis can also be worn during arm and shoulder training sessions A silicone band on the inside prevents slipping, thus ensuring the functionality of the orthosis Unique option of combining with the Manu Neurexa plus to form a SEWHO (shoulder-elbowwrist-hand orthosis, see middle illustration) Press buttons in different colours make the orthosis easy to use Soft TriTech material ensures excellent wearer comfort The special textile structure supports the positioning of the orthosis and helps prevent slipping Soft edges prevent chafing and sores Muscle stimulation pad made of silicone Machine washing at 40 C is recommended Side Size Chest circumference (cm) L / R XXS 73 78 L / R XS 79 86 L / R S 87 94 L / R M 96 102 L / R L 103 110 L / R XL 111 118 6 Ottobock Neurexa product line

Malleo Neurexa pro Art. no. 28U50 Indication This orthosis can be used for dorsiflexor weakness, especially in case of an acute supination position of the foot due to spasticity, for example following a stroke or traumatic brain injury, for multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular atrophy or isolated peroneal paralysis. Effects and features The Malleo Neurexa pro is a thermoplastic ankle-foot orthosis for the treatment of patients with an acute supination position of the foot and/or with beginning or emerging spasticity. Combined with the elastic pronation strap, the special guidance of the closure straps ensures effective correction, even with acute hypertonicity of the lower leg musculature. The design allows it to be worn as a daytime and nighttime orthosis. The elastic strap can yield to pressure when spasticity occurs and, once it relaxes, can resume holding the foot in the neutral position. Another special feature is that the orthosis can be worn without shoes. However, the orthosis should not be worn barefoot.
