President s Page Page 5 Fellow Surveyors, President s Message The dinner meeting in May was County Surveyors Night where there was about 34 in attendance. In addition to our Riverside and San Bernardino County Surveyors, we had a special guest, Mrs. Joan Carr. Mrs Carr is the County Surveyor for Imperial County. I would like to thank Mr. Tim Smith for running the dinner meeting as I was unable to attend. The annual Bill Young Memorial Golf Tournament was May 21 st at the same venue as last year, The Links at Summerly in Lake Elsinore and was a combined effort with the Desert Chapter. We had about 70 players this year with 11% participation for the Desert Chapter and 89% participation for our Chapter. Total proceeds were $3,008 with $331 for the Desert Chapter and $2,677 for our Chapter. Way to step up to the Tee!!! Our membership committee is working on a membership drive. In order to help them out, please be sure that your local chapter dues has been paid. In addition, please be sure that you have paid the State Association dues, which operates separately from the local Chapter. Per our Chapter by-laws: Article IV, Section 4: Each Chapter member shall become an Association member within one year following their admission to the Chapter (as provided in Section 8.07 of the Association s bylaws). Article IV, Section 5: Association admission, dues, and assessments are separate and controlled by the Association. Article VI, Section 3: During the month of July, the Chapter shall submit to the Association, a list of Chapter members in good standing with the Chapter. The Chapter will be entitled to one representative on the Association Board of Directors, for each 20 Corporate Members, or fraction thereof, confirmed by the Association to be in good standing with the Chapter and the Association. Currently, we have 58 corporate members. In view of that, please help out our membership committee volunteers and double check your records to see that your dues, both local and state, are up to date. As you know, for our regular meetings the chapter has been subsidizing the difference between the cost of dinners and what you pay at the door if your membership dues are paid. As our 2010 membership drive comes to a close, we will no longer be able to offer this subsidy effective July 1st. We, the board members, will try to keep the cost of our dinners as close to $20 as possible except for a few special occasions. Our next meeting will be at the Angels Stadium in Anaheim with the Orange County Chapter on June 23 rd (Friday). The next regular dinner meeting is on July 22 nd (Thursday) at the Chicago Pasta House in Moreno Valley. We hope to see you there Respectfully, Delia K. Smith PLS 2010 RSB Chapter President
