8th Annual Behavioral Health and Aging Conference: Addiction and Mental Health in Late Life Passavant Hospital Foundation Conference Center 700 Cumberland Woods Dr., Allison Park, PA 15101 Thursday, September 6, 2018 Program Description This conference will provide an overview of addictive disorder in late life with a specific focus on opioid misuse and addiction. In addition, we will address common co-travelers in late life addiction depression, anxiety, suicidality and chronic pain. This program is designed for all providers serving the aging population. Educational Objectives At the completion of this program participants should be able to: 1. Conceptualize addictive disorder especially as related to opioid misuse. 2. Describe key differences in the treatment of addictive disorders in older vs. midlife patients. 3. Describe novel treatment approaches to late life depression and anxiety. Target Audience Providers working with older adults including physicians, nurses, front-line staff, case managers/service coordinators, therapists and clinicians. Continuing Education Credits Physicians The is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors/Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professionals: CADC/CCDP Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, Office of Education and Regional Programming is certified by the Pennsylvania Chemical Abuse Certification Board (PCACB) to provide Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) continuing education credits for those participants attending the entire program. Counselors Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 5059. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic is solely responsible for all aspects of this program. Licensed/Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists: LSW/LCSW/LPC/LMFT This program is offered for 6.5 hours of social work continuing education through co-sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh s School of Social Work, a Council on Social Work Education-accredited school and, therefore, a PA pre-approved provider of social work continuing education.
