Greetings Midlands, On Super Bowl Sunday we celebrate the culmination of what many would consider the two best teams in the NFL competing for the title "Champion." Our mission is different. Our mission is about the journey and the relationships we form and foster through a Christ-centered community. Our mission is being the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need in our world. We don't do it so we can be the champion, but rather so we can share the love that has been so freely given to us. What are you doing in your congregations to live out that mission? Please share with us at: PresidentTeam@midlandsmc.org We have a few things in the works: C Online registration is LIVE! This system allows for payment plans! C The website (www.midlandsmc.org) is being updated and will C be online any day! We have a new email distribution! If you are not receiving emails from the President Team, send us an email and we will add you. We have all been blessed by the gathering and community that is created and experienced at both Chihowa and Doniphan Reunions. As many of you are aware, our reunions over the past years have struggled to cover costs. The President Team and Tom Cochran have been prayerful about the needed stewardship for the future of reunions and financial health of our mission center. As a result, we have raised the fees for reunion. The new cost is $245 per 18 and older. There is no cost for children 17 and below however, they will need to attend with an adult. This still does not cover the entire cost of reunion, so please continue to be generous in your giving. If cost is a factor for your family to attend, please reach out to your congregational financial officer and/or Midlands Financial Officer Tom Cochran. If you would like to contribute to help others attend please reach out to Tom Cochran! Blessings to each of you as you live out Christ s mission in this world! Theme Thoughts Welcome to the Porch-Experience Living Hope How many times a day do you have thoughts about what we will cook for dinner to wondering if our friend s struggling marriage will survive? Will we ever be able to get out of financial difficulty? We have so many mistakes and regrets. In the midst of our thinking, an undercurrent of despair can creep in while we watch the nightly news, hear of a cancer diagnosis, sort out a misunderstanding or deal with whatever we re facing that day. King David, being exiled North of Jordan and wanting to return to Jerusalem voiced his deep sadness in Psalm 42. Rather than denying or minimizing his pain, he clearly identified his sorrow and proclaimed his thirst for God. He practiced the secret to overcoming hopelessness the hopelessness that can trickle into our hearts and minds until we find ourselves in the rushing current, tumbling toward a waterfall of despair. David encouraged his soul to praise God to acknowledge, affirm and adore God s character, even when he was feeling downcast in spirit or disturbed in heart. Our souls need similar encouragement. Sometimes, when we reach the end of ourselves, when we reach the end of the tears and the rage and the questions, when we are quiet we hear Him say, I am God. I am here. If you are submerged in pain, sorrow, despair or confusion, maybe you need to give your soul a good talking to. We Welcome you to the Porch where women will gather to share their stories, releasing their hopelessness, trusting God, and Experience His Living Hope! SNACKS For Friday and Saturday night, please bring snack foods to be shared with everyone. Please bring enough for five (5) people. Then if you desire you may also bring a special snack for you and your roommates. PASTORAL CARE TEAM Priesthood members, if you would like to be part of a pastoral team for the weekend, please make note of this on your registration. Please indicate what priesthood office you hold. This pastoral care team will be asked to be in special prayer for all sisters in attendance and be available for any special administrations that might be requested during the weekend. FREE TIME ACTIVITIES There will be time Saturday afternoon to play games; visit with others; go into Excelsior Springs for shopping or watch some great Women of Faith videos. Proceeds from the auction defray the costs of the weekend and help with financial assistance for those who would not be able to come without assistance. 5.
