ADVANCED TRAINING FORENSIC PSYCHIATRY Checklist of Required Training Experiences and Tasks Informal Checklist to Track Completion of Training Tasks and Experiences for Advanced Training in Forensic Psychiatry You will also need to follow the checklist of tasks for Fellowship, found in the Generic Advanced Training Logbook. Note: Forms with asterisk* are located in the Generic Advanced Training logbook. 1. Discuss with Director of Advanced Training in Forensic Psychiatry. 2. Submit application to commence Forensic Advanced Training to Director of Advanced Training. 3. Submit Forensic Advanced Training Outline Proposal to Director of Advanced Training for each year of training. 4. Complete clinical experiences including 6 months FTE exposure to High Prevalence Disorders; 3 months FTE with prisoners/remandees 6 months FTE exposure to acute Forensic Psychiatry 6 months exposure to rehabilitation/chronic Forensic Psychiatry At least 6 months of training must occur in a Forensic Psychiatry inpatient setting. 5. Complete relevant clinical research in Forensic Psychiatry 6. Attend 80 hours of formal teaching over two years of training. 7. Deliver 2 academic presentations 8. Attend 30 hours academic presentations. 9. Form peer review / peer study group and attend at least 10x annually, present at least 2x annually. Get annual record form signed off by director of the peer review/study group. 10. Obtain supervisor assessment on performance every 3 months as a formative assessment*, and every 6 months as a summative assessment*. Summative 6 monthly assessments are sent to the Director of Advanced Training. 11. Complete prescribed case summary record: 6 Addiction Cases logged 6 Intellectual disability Cases logged 6 cases cross cultural assessment or treatment. 50 supervised medicolegal reports over the two year period Involvement in 8 criminal court expert evidence matters Involvement in Civil court and MHA evidence total of 12 from both contexts in two year period. 12. Record observations of other forensic clinical settings. 13. Prepare final qualitative report on your Advanced Training experience and supervision and lodge this with your Director of Advanced Training. 14. Complete final Summary Report in this Logbook and have it signed off by the Director of Advanced Training.
