Aug/Sept 2015 H. Clarke Powers PTC Newsletter A special message from our Parent Teacher Club President... Hello and welcome back to school! My name is Ilene Barbree and I have the pleasure to serve as your Parent Teacher Club President for a second year. I have two boys: one in 2nd grade and one in 4th grade. We have been at HCP for four years and think this is an amazing school with incredible teachers and the most dedicated principal around, Mr. Lockwood.. The purpose of the PTC is to support our entire school community: the students, teachers, and families. We do this through volunteering and fundraising activities. I encourage each of you to participate in your school and help make this next year even more amazing. I look forward to meeting you! Ilene Barbree, PTC President pibarbree@yahoo.com HCP MOVIE NIGHT IN THE GYM Friday, August 28th Doors open at 5pm, Movie starts at 5:30pm Grab a blanket or bring a couple chairs and come join us for a free movie night at HCP! What is HCP PTC? H. Clarke Powers (HCP) Parent Teacher Club (PTC) consists of parents and HCP staff who get together once a month to coordinate activities and fundraisers for our wonderful school. It s a great way for parents to connect with other parents and have a positive impact on their children s education. Funds raised by the PTC directly affects our students, teachers, and overall school community. Your PTC membership and involvement truly makes a difference! 2015/16 PTC Approved Budget Allocations Our PTC Board typically approves current budgets based on the amount of monies raised the previous year. Unfortunately, we have had to keep lowering the budget (see trend below) or have it stay similar to the current amount. HCP PTC Approved Budgets From Previous Years... 2004/05 2005/06 2006/07 2007/08 2008/09 2009/10 2010/11 2011/12 2012/13 2013/14 2014/15 25,100 35,845 40,233 20,000 25,010 27,500 40,000 27,500 34,000 32,000 17,000 A smaller budget means less resources, supplies, assemblies, and other opportunities for our students. How can WE increase our budget? With more students and families attending HCP, it is possible to raise more money and increase our budget for next year. Here are just a few ways to help: PTC Member Donation (more details to follow) Come to a PTC monthly meeting Save Box Tops, link your Target and Raley s card to HCP & your Amazon account too! Attend PTC and Loomis Basin Education Foundation (LBEF) Events Volunteer your time Volunteer to help with PTC related events and activities Monetary donation Encourage your student to participate in the variety of fundraising activities throughout the year by selling to family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, coaches, and more!
