2017 Confirmation Preparation January - October 2017 Confirmation preparation will consist of a combination of Cluster group and local parish formation. Parents are asked to attend the Cluster meetings along with their student, and to participate with the local parish in formation opportunities for these students. One Confirmation Ritual will take place at the local parish weekend Masses. (Presentation) Students will participate in a Retreat Opportunity and a Discipleship Service Project, and submit a reflective report on their experiences. The Report Forms will be provided by the Cluster Office. Students will participate in the Totus Tuus Program being offered in the Cluster during the summer; 5 evenings. Those unable to attend, will meet individually with the Pastor. Students will participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation; recommended monthly. Students will attend Mass regularly. Parents and Sponsors will walk the journey of faith with their student(s) during the preparation process. Preparation will consist of Weekly Faith Formation Classes and 4-5 Cluster meetings covering specific topics: Sessions Topics Before Confirmation Parent Orientation Meeting Holy Scripture Eucharist Confirmation, the Sacrament Gifts of the Holy Spirit Saying Yes to the Mission of Christ and His Church The Journey Continues Rehearsal Celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation We use the Chosen series- any missed classes will be able to do individual make-up with our Chosen program online. Who is responsible for what? Cluster Faith Formation Office - o Works with Local Parish Confirmation Contact Person and Local Catechists. o Responsibilities: Oversee 4-5 Cluster Confirmation Sessions Coordinate any Confirmation Team meetings necessary Provide Confirmation Program Parent/Student packet with: Team Contact Information Program Overview and Expectations

Schedule of meeting dates Required paperwork and Report Forms Provide Confirmation Program Sponsor packet with: Team Contact Information Schedule of meeting dates Required paperwork and Report Forms Copy of Sponsor Booklet Suggested Sponsor/Candidate assignments Sharing of resources, calendar and events Coordinate Confirmation Liturgy Contact person with Archdiocesan Offices Contact person for Cluster events Local Parish Confirmation Contact Person o Maintain contact with local Site Coordinator and Local Catechists for Grades 10/11 o Responsibilities: Act as Local Contact to help maintain communication with the Cluster Faith Formation Office, Parents and Sponsors Organize any Local Confirmation meetings desired by your parish participants Meet with parents to establish any Local Meetings Assist with any planning needed for Candidate Service Project presentation Monitor local student s Service Projects, Retreat participation and submission of necessary reports/information to the Cluster Office. Local Site Coordinator o Maintains communication with Cluster Office, Local Confirmation Contact person, Catechists, parents and students o Distribute information to Catechists and Candidates when requested Local Catechist - 10 th and 11 th grades o Instructs students at Weekly Faith Formation classes o Responsibilities: Cover topics requested by Cluster Office Contact Local Confirmation Contact Person with any questions or concerns Distributes information to students when requested Assist with announcements/reminders to be distributed at class Jesus, help me to simplify my life by learning what you want me to be and becoming that person. Local Parish Community o Support Candidates, Parents and Sponsors during Preparation period and after reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation o Pray for Candidates and their families o Offer assistance with food for Cluster meetings o Offer assistance with Candidate Discipleship Service Projects if requested Parent involvement and level of commitment o Provide Cluster Faith Formation Office with the necessary paperwork: Certificate of Baptism (Copy required) Confirmation Registration Form o Attend Cluster Confirmation Sessions with your son/daughter o Communicate with Local Confirmation Contact person o Assist son/daughter with the following: Selection of Sponsor Selection of Confirmation Name Discipleship Service Projects Retreat Attendance o Assist son/daughter with completing and submitting the following Reports by Due Date: Discipleship Service Report & sharing at local Faith Formation class Retreat Reflection Report Sponsor/Mentor involvement and commitment: o Provide Cluster Office with the necessary information: Confirmation Registration Form Sponsor Information & Contact section o Attend Sponsor Meeting (see current year calendar for date of meeting) o Attend Cluster Confirmation Sessions with Candidate as often as possible o Communicate with Local Confirmation Contact Person o Meet or contact Candidate on a regular basis and walk this faith journey with them o Assist Candidate with the following: Selection of Confirmation Name Discipleship Service Project Retreat Attendance. o Assist Candidate with completing and submitting the following Reports by the Due Date: Discipleship Service Report & Presentation at local class Retreat Reflection Report

Local Parish Contact person should help monitor progress of candidates projects Share Service Projects with Local Faith Formation class Use Project Report information to assist in sharing your project experience Speak to the need you identified and acknowledge your talents and strengths used to accomplish the project Answer the question: How did this push me beyond my comfort zone and challenge me to trust more in God?

A parent MUST be present. Explain program Obtain Local Parish Contact Person volunteers Complete Registration Form Explain Sponsor Selection Questions & Answers February 26, 2017 Cluster Group Meeting #1 Students, Parents and Sponsors if available Candidates should have Sponsor selected by February. Turn in Sponsor Information to Cluster FF Office. Turn in copy of Candidate Baptismal Certificate March 25/26-2017 Rite of Presentation of Candidates at Weekend Liturgies This month cover some of these topics at home: April 2, 2017 o o Discuss Saints and Discipleship Service Projects. Help students implement their project. Select Confirmation Name: Use Baptismal Name or other Saint name. Saint report will be due in September. Cluster Group Meeting #2 Students, Parents and Sponsors Sponsor meeting during this session.
