People... Deborah M. Gwen W. Janet P. Carolyn H. Marcia H-W. Rebecca and Kwame Phil music at HUUC Gwen W. Congregational Social Justice Leader Award for Gwen has served as Social Action Committee Chair for over 6 years. Chairing monthly meetings, writing agendas and minutes both, she has spearheaded the idea of monthly soup luncheon fundraisers for social action (much enjoyed by the Congregation for socializing as well as fundraising for social action). She has assisted various members in planning and carrying out a yearly Food Truck (both funding and serving), and advertised and led a van full of attendees to the April Climate March in Washington, D.C. In the past year she has provided multiple rainbow flags. We fly one at a time, but provide on the flagpole a message informing would-be thieves that if they need the flag, go ahead and take it, we have others, love is our central belief. She has also organized a Sanctuary of the Heart team to hold short services on Monday nights if the national crisis calls us to need to take sanctuary, singing and sharing together. So far we have done this only the Monday after the inauguration of this new President, in January 2017, but we have come close again as votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act were taken. Gwen s consistent, imaginative, and collaborative leadership has given so much to our community at Harbor UU Congregation in Muskegon.

Social Action Happenings and Opportunities In December: Social Action Committee will meet Please join us! We ll be doing a survey of your interests by email - look for this in the next few weeks.
