Meeting Opened at 7.30pm. 5. Minutes of the last meeting was read out and approved: Proposed by: K Kearns. Seconded by: - D Welstead. Carried. (Signed by the Branch Chairman) 6. Chairman s Opening Remarks (Mark Welstead) The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting. He also mentioned that as requested he will be writing a letter of thanks to Tod, for his work on our Play Your Cards Right board. As a note to all the amount that can be won his going up quite quickly, so come along and have ago. Page 1 of 5

7. President s Report (Dave Rees) The President thanked everyone for their attendance. He reported that the Phoenix Club had invited us to hold some meetings at their premises. We will discuss this at the next committee meeting to assess the feasibility of altering our year plan to accommodate this. 8. Secretary s Report (Dave Perry) The Secretary reported on emails from London, most of which had been received too late to be sent out to members prior to this meeting. Membership Council rep for overseas, Bob Chambers, President of Antwerp Branch, will replace Rod Bedford, after National Conference for 1 year. Overseas Newsletter, has been sent out to members. Top line brief Overseas Support co-ordinator. NMA notice. All paperwork ref: - National Conference. He the meeting that in future other than the Overseas Newsletter all other correspondence will be in a folder for members to read at the meeting. The meeting seemed to like this development. 9. Treasurer s Report (Gill Rees) The Treasurers report as attached was accepted by the meeting. Proposed Seconded For Against Carried M Cowan I Barker All None Rejected 10. Welfare Representative (Chris Perry) In the absence of the Welfare Rep. the secretary read a brief report. 1 new case awaiting a doctor s report, before submitting paperwork. On-going support to members as required. The Welfare rep, padre and secretary, attended the Cyprus Samaritans Refresher Day, where we gave a presentation and answered any questions this was a good networking session. Page 2 of 5

11. Poppy Appeal Report (Elaine Nicholls) Thank you to all who helped raise this money. 12. Membership Secretary s Report (Diane Welstead) Nothing to report at this meeting. 13. Fund Raising Organiser s Report (Ruth Neighbour) In the absence of Ruth, Gill gave a brief report on up and coming fund raisers. 13 May 2017 Paphiakos Saturday Market. 8am-1pm. 27 May 2017 Kamares Fayre. 10am-4pm. Armed Forces Day, to include Falklands Commemoration. At The Frog & Toad Coral Bay, 1pm onwards. Stalls, 24 June 2017 Games & Raffle. Food and drink available at the bar as required. 16 July 2017 Beach Party, Atlantica beach. CANCELLED. 5 November 2017 Angelica Fayre, 9.30am 2.00pm. 18 November 2017 Kamares Christmas Fayre.10am-4pm It was also noted that, please could members assist both Gill and Ruth on the stalls, as just the 2 of them makes it a very long and tiring day. 14. Social Event Organiser s Report (Helen Caplan) All Forthcoming Social and Fund Raising Events are open to nonmembers. To assist with bookings in this busy period, Diane Welstead and Dave Perry are available to take bookings on Helen s behalf; contact details will be given when required. 24 June 2017 Armed Forces Day, to include Falklands Commemoration. At The Frog & Toad Coral Bay, 1pm onwards. Stalls, Games & Raffle. Food and drink available at the bar as required. 16 July 2017 Beach Party, Atlantica beach. CANCELLED. 16 Passchendaele Centenary, The Frog & Toad Coral Bay. September 3 course meal 15 ppph. Raffle. Date and timings to be 2017 confirmed when finalised. It was explained that the beach party was cancelled owing entertainment booking difficulties and other unforeseen problems. We are hoping to arrange one at another time. The Frog and Toad are very keen to help us with functions. As a venue with an ex-forces theme, they will be doing events of their own and we are welcome to attend and support them. We will discuss with them when we may hold a raffle at their functions. All events and functions are open to members and non members. 15. Any Other Business The branch year plan, any amendments will be emailed to the membership as required. a) Larnaca branch has contact with Waynes Keep Cemetery in Nicosia, access to which is by invitation only. If it can be arranged for members of Cyprus branches to visit, are we interested in going? We would need to arrange our own transport. The President may be able to assist in arranging the transport. There is interest from the membership. We will Try to get a date and then arrange transport. b) The beach party has been cancelled. As previously explained. a) Horse Racing equipment, Ruth and Gill will make a whip, for sale to jockeys/owners, this will create a jockeys/owners prize for each race. If a whip is unsold at a race that horse will be withdrawn. The meeting was quite enthusiastic about this idea. Page 4 of 5

c) Ruth and Gill are also looking at Bunny Racing for Easter 2018. Unfortunately we were unable to demonstrate this to the meeting, but everyone was keen on the idea. d) At the Cyprus Samaritans Refresher Day, we were offered the chance for a representative of Alcoholic Anonymous to give a talk at one of our branch meetings. The membership was asked if they supported the idea of a talk, this was confirmed. A Hodgson will contact the AA rep and try to arrange the talk for after our June meeting. 16. Points for Next Meeting No points were raised for the next meeting. 17. Date of Next Meeting : Branch Committee, 3.30pm 1 st June 2017 Ruth s.
