8 nregional/constituency AIDS Cocoordination Conclusiones committee AIDS Committees: THE ROLE OF RACOC/CACOC UNDER THE MTP III PLAN With consultation of all DACs/CACOCs a plan is being set up as per government financial calendar (eg. April 2009 to March 2010). Presented to RACOC and submitted to Regional Council. BUDGET Ministry of Regional Local Government Housing and Rural Development through the Regional Council provided an annual budget (N$200, 000 N$250,000) for activities only. 8
9 nregional/constituency AIDS Cocoordination Conclusiones committee AIDS Committees: THE ROLE OF RACOC/CACOC UNDER THE MTP III Implementation of activities DAC/CACOC submit proposals in line with the approved plan to RACOC/MDM Female Condom demonstration during CACOC activity RACOC/MDM pays the service providers as indicated by CACOCs/DACs and provide logistical or technical assistance if necessary Schools HIV Awareness Week Activities of all sectors needing Opuwo funds from RACOC/MDM goes through CACOCs/DACs 9

12 INVOLVEMENT OF PLWH IN HIV & AIDS ACTIVITIES IN ERONGO Conclusiones & KUNENE REGION Awareness raising Members of Support groups mobilise the community on HIV/AIDS,STIs, TB, Alcohol & Drugs Abuse through organising an awareness raising Assist in CACOC activities by mobilising the community about the roles of Support Groups during community/village outreach services. 12

16 The Community Approach of the Project Conclusiones ACHIEVEMENTS - Regional Structures in place and functioning, e.g. RACOC/CACOCs/DACs - In general the HIV prevalence in Namibia has been reduced Sites Namibia Swakopmund Walvis Bay Omaruru Usakos Outjo Khorixas Opuwo Leadership commitment increasing - Mobile Unit outreach services reaching (on ARV/TB/PMTCT and Health Education) rural communities - Active participation of Support Groups of PLWHA as motivational speakers in awareness campaign and public events - Increased the empowerment of Support Group members through trainings, meetings and exchange visits - Working on sustainability of the MdM actions in both Regions 16
