Major drug trafficking route close proximity to Golden Triangle seepage in kgs. Methamphetamine/WY/Yama use on the rise particularly at the border Many have addicted to Heroin 90% are IDUs Estimated no. of IDUS : According Family Health International/ Community Medicine, RIMS 30,000 apptly. Sharing of contaminated injecting equipments led to rapid transmission BBVs HIV, HCV, HBV, etc. Till 1989 there was no detection of HIV by 1994 the prevalence rate among IDUs dramatically increased to 56%. By 1998 it almost reached 80% Majority of PLHA belong to age range of yrs. And is constituted by IDUs (62%) A paradigm shift of HIV transmission from i IDUs to spouses further to children Prevalence among antenatal mothers, children, STI and TB cases have been sharply increased.
