Cat. 2,Xn; R FIRST AID MEASURES In case of skin contact: Immediately take off all contaminated clothing. Areas of the body that have - or are only even suspected of having - come into contact with the product must be rinsed immediately with plenty of running water and possibly with soap. In case of eyes contact: Do not use eyewash or ointment of any kind (before obtaining an examination or advice from an eye specialist). Wash immediately with water for at least 10 minutes. In case of Ingestion: Do not under any circumstances induce vomiting. OBTAIN A MEDICAL EXAMINATION IMMEDIATELY. A suspension of activated charcoal in water, or liquid paraffin may be administered. In case of Inhalation: Ventilate the premises. The patient is to be removed immediately from the contaminated premises and made to rest in a well ventilated area. Should the patient feel unwell, OBTAIN MEDICAL ATTENTION. 5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES Suitable extinguishing media: In case of fire, use chemical powder, foam or atomized water fire extinguishers. Extinguishers not to be used: None in particular. Risks arising from combustion: Avoid inhaling the fumes. Protective equipment: Use protection for the respiratory tract. 3 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Measures for personal safety: Use a mask, gloves and protective clothing. Environmental measures: Limit leakages with earth or sand. Eliminate all unguarded flames and possible sources of ignition. Do not smoke. If the product has escaped into a water course, into the drainage system, or has contaminated the ground or vegetation, notify the competent authorities. Cleaning methods: Rapidly recover the product. To do so, wear a mask and protective clothing. If the product is in a liquid form, stop it from entering the drainage system. Recover the product for re-use if possible, or for elimination. The product might, where appropriate, be absorbed by inert material. After the product has been recovered, rinse the area and materials involved with water. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling precautions: Avoid contact and inhalation of the vapours. See, too, paragraph 8 below. Do not eat or drink while working. Do not smoke while working. Storage conditions: Keep away from unguarded flame, sparks, and heat sources. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Instructions as regards storage premises: Cool and adequately ventilated. 8. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Conditions to avoid: Stable under normal conditions. Substances to avoid: Avoid contact with combustible materials. The product could catch fire. Hazardous decomposition products: None. 11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION There is no toxicological data available on the mixture. Consider the individual concentration of each component to assess toxicological effects resulting from exposure to the mixture. Toxicological information on main components of the mixture: cyclohexane * ACUTE TOXICITY * - Inhalation: vapour concentrations above the recommended exposure limits are irritant to the eyes and respiratory tract, may cause headache and dizziness, are anaesthetic and may have other effects on the CNS. Prolonged inhalation may cause anorexia, loss in weight, nervous system disorders with spasms and neuropathy with alterations of the senses. - Contact with skin: low toxicity index. Frequent or prolonged contact may degrease and dry the skin, favouring tenderness and dermatitis. - Contact with eyes: will cause eye fatigue but not damage the eye tissue. Page n. 4 of 8

5 - Ingestion: even tiny quantities that reach the respiratory system during ingestion or vomiting may cause bronchopneumonia or pulmonary oedema. Minimum toxicity index. ethyl acetate Contact with eyes may cause irritation. Possible symptoms include: redness, oedema, pain and watering. Inhalation of vapours causes irritation of the upper and lower respiratory tract with coughing and difficulty in breathing: at high concentrations, even pulmonary oedema. Contact with skin causes irritation with erythema, oedema, dryness and chapping. Swallowing, which is unlikely to occur, may give rise to abdominal pain with a burning feeling, nausea and vomiting. The product is irritant. toluene OBSERVATIONS IN MAN - NON-OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE Effects of acute exposure: An experiment conducted on persons subjected to the inhalation of ppm for 8 hours gave the following results: At 200 ppm: slight but definite reduction in coordination and reaction time, fatigue, confusion, paresthesia of the skin; fatigue lasted for several hours together with a slight degree of insomnia. At 400 ppm: worsening of symptoms and mental confusion. At 600 ppm after 3 hours: extreme fatigue, mental confusion, loss of self-control, lack of coordination, nausea, headache and loss of balance. After 8 hours, these symptoms are accentuated, the pupils dilate and problems arise in the ability to adapt to the light. At 800 ppm the same symptoms as above, but much more accentuated and long-lasting. dichloromethane Routes of penetration: ingestion and inhalation. Exposure to high concentrations of vapours: effects on the CNS with headache, dizziness and tendency to lose consciousness; paresthesia of the hands and feet. Repeated and prolonged exposure to high concentrations in man: headache, palpitations, precordial pain, myalgia. Irritation of the skin with dermatitis and of the eyes with conjunctivitis in case of prolonged contact. Mutagenesis: active on some in vitro bacterial systems. Low boiling point hydrogen treated naphtha * ACUTE TOXICITY * - Inhalation - Vapours concentrations over recommended levels are irritant for the eyes and respiratory tract, may give rise to headaches and dizziness, are anesthetic and may affect the central and/or peripheral nervous system. - Contact with the skin - Frequent and prolonged contact may remove the skin's natural greases, making the skin dry and favoring the onset of dermatitis. - Contact with the eyes - No damage to the ocular tissue, though discomfort may be experienced. - Swallowing - Even small amounts of liquid introduced into the respiratory system during swallowing or vomiting may give rise to bronchopneumonia or pulmonary edema. * CHRONIC TOXICITY * This product contains n-hexane: Page n. 5 of 8

6 exceeding exposure may cause progressive and potentially irreversible damage to the peripheral nervous system, particularly to the arms and legs. 12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION Adopt good working practices, so that the product is not released into the environment.
