4 FY2019 New Course Fees College of Arts & Sciences Anthropology Each of these courses requires the use of bones and casts as the main teaching tool. The wear and tear on these items as they are passed lab after lab is significant. The classes can't be taught without these items which are very expensive to replace. The classes have grown from students to up to 200 a class, the wear on these collections has now doubled as well as increased the need for more examples of one sample so all the students have the opportunity to examine and experience the sample. In 2018, the edtpa will become consequential for teacher licensure. The gathering of subjectspecific instructional evidence and written personal reflections for edtpa submission, is a multi-term process that is integrated into the student field experience, a practicum and student teaching seminar course, and work with the University supervisor mentor/coach. This is the final course of the student licensure portion of the UOTeach program. edtpa documents are submitted during the course. 7 College of Design Product Design Course Fees We have found that we can procure better quality materials at better prices in bulk for a class, and are therefore adjusting the fee for materials provided to students based on usage. Examples of items covered by fees: pencils, marker sets, ellipse templates, drawing papers, cardboard, wood veneer, textiles, polymers, prototyping materials and use of TSA. Fees also help fund special instructional support (not instruction) that is necessary for the courses. This request is due to the increase in cost for our supplies and specimens needed such as: Plant examples for lab demonstrations and activities including tropical species, species not flowering during the time of year the course is taught, rare species that are not able to be collected in the wild (e.g. orchids), edible examples of plant families, and examples of fruit from various plant families - often available at local grocery stores, flower shops, and nurseries. These supplies are essential for this course's lab activities. In spring 2016, the money collected in student lab fees was $115 and the actual expense for this course was $516.89, all of which was spent on specimens for the class. Students are able to take home some of the various live plant samples that they have studied over the course of the term. 8 School of Music and Dance Dance A $5 fee increase is needed to cover the true cost of instruction-related services associated with the courses. Subj Code Course Number Fee Structure FY18 Max FY19 Max DAN 410 Dema African Perf Dance Service Fee Credit $25 $30 DAN 510 Dema African Perf Dance Service Fee Credit $25 $30 Dance The fee rate structure for the courses listed below is moving from a flat fee to a per credit course fee. The cost for 1 credit hour of instruction is $65 and will not change. Course work is based on contact time and 1 credit hour typically represents the equivalent of an hour (50 minutes) of instruction per week over the entire term. The total credit hours generated by a course equal the number of credit hours/contact time associated with the course. The per credit fee is needed in order to cover the increased costs of instruction-related services associated with the courses that generate more than 1 credit hour of instruction.
