SKIN-CAP IN TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH PSORIASIS Mavlyanova Sh., Z., Abidova Z.M., Luk yanova A.S., Ismagilov A.I., Azimova F.A. Scientific-Research Institute of Dermatology and Venerology, Public Health Ministry, Republic of Uzbekistan
Recently medical dermatology has paid more attention to improvement in therapeutic efficacy of external local therapy of psoriasis because of pathological effect the potent drugs, such as, cytostatics, corticosteroids, retinoids and immunosuppressors, produce on a patient s organism upon long-term treatment of the disease. To study the possibility to restrict the use of the potent drugs above we tested SKIN-CAP, a novel preparation for external use in the form of aerosol, shampoo and cream, for treatment of patients with psoriasis. We observed 28 patients (8 females and 28 males) aged from 12 to 69 with psoriasis duration from 1 year to 17. Eight patients had the spread psoriasis of progressive stage and summer type, eight subjects suffered from psoriasis exsudativa, in seven people psoriatic erythrodermia and in five patients restricted psoriasis of hairy part of head were found. One-month treatment with subsequent prophylactic use was performed in accordance with recommendations of the company. The results showed more pronounced clinical effect in patients with psoriasis of hairy part of head (95%) and psoriasis exsudativa. SKIN-CAP clinical effect in patients with psoriatic erythrodermia was 52%, in subjects at progressivestationary stage 48%. Positive dynamics was observed in all patients examined. Itch, hyperemia and desquamation subsided in 2-4 days, infiltration resolving in 5-8 days. No side effects of the preparation were registered. The local therapy with SKIN-CAP was performed in complex with general treatment. The preparation was applied on foci twice a day (in the morning and in the evening). SKIN-CAP shampoo and aerosol were used for treatment of patients with psoriasis of hairy part of head, cream and shampoo for others. It should be noted that all patients received conventional therapy (desensibilizing and antihistamine preparations, vitamin therapy, ultraviolet irradiation, with local external use of boron-salicylic and naphthalan ointments and hormonal creams). Rapid therapeutic and cosmetic effect of SKIN-CAP preparation seen in the first days of treatment is an essential advantage over the conventional methods of external local therapy. The shampoo and aerosol forms of the preparation are especially handy in treatment of psoriasis of the scalp.
To be concluded, SKIN-CAP aerosol and shampoo are more efficient in treatment of psoriasis of the scalp. SKIN-CAP shampoo and cream are advisable for treatment of patients with the spread psoriasis at progressive-stationary stage, those with psoriasis exsudativa and psoriatic erythrodermia. Prophylactic measures are recommended to be taken once a week after treatment. Zinc pyrithionate structure Pharmacodynamic properties Anti-inflammatory Anti-proliferative (anti-mitotic) Anti-mycotic Antibacterial
Indication to Skin-cap line preparations psoriasis (restricted, spread form psoriasis of the scalp) seborrheic dermatitis seborrhea adiposa and seborrhea sicca of the scalp atopic dermatitis litchen Counterindications to administrations personal intolerance of zinc pyrithionate Patients distribution according to nosologic form: Psoriasis 29 Seborrheic dermatitis 16
Clinical form of psoriasis: Psoriasis of the scalp 8 The spread psoriasis vulgaris, stationary progressive stage 7 Restricted forms of psoriasis 9 Psoriasis exsudative 4 Erythroderma psoriaticum 1 Clinical forms of seborrhea: Seborrheic dermatitis 7 Seborrhea of the scalp 9
Distribution of patients administered with SKIN-CAP preparations in dependence on nosologic forms of dermatoses Nosologic forms cream aerosol shampoo Total number of patients psoriasis Seborrheic dermatitis Assessment criteria: clinical recovery, i.e. complete resolution of all signs of the disease significant amelioration, i.e. marked rash resolutions and itch termination dermal process improvement i.e., symptom amelioration (discoloration, flattening of pathological elements, desquamation and itch termination) Absence of clinical effects, i.e. enhancement of clinical improvement
Comparative efficacy of SKIN-CAP and conventional methods of therapy (days) Therapeutic methods Subsidence of itch Termination of desquamation Flattening of elements and infiltration Dermal process resolution SKIN-CAP Conventional therapy
Conclusion: In the aerosol and cream forms SKIN-CAP is handy and efficient for management of patients with psoriasis vulgaris and psoriasis exsudative. SKIN-CAP aerosol is more handy in management of patients with psoriasis of the scalp. External use of aerosol and cream is expedient in management of patients with the spread forms of psoriasis in combination and pathogenic therapy. SKIN-CAP cream and shampoo are more efficient, handy and beneficial in management of patients with seborrheic dermatitis.
