28 Advantages of Polymeric FRs Better Performance During Recycling According to many studies and existing applications, polymeric brominated flame retardants systems are superior to halogen-free systems in high performance recycling operations and their end of life fate can be managed and controlled. Lowest Toxicity During Incineration At Their End Of Life Incineration studies published by the University of Munich in 2002, show that the toxicity of the combustion products from a technopolymer fire retarded by a polymeric brominated fire retardant system is several times lower than for a resin fire retarded by a halfree phosphinated salt based system and than beech wood used as a reference. The non FR technopolymer also emits highly toxic smoke during incineration. 28
