2 What is the idea behind Myoreflex Therapy? What is the effect of Myoreflex Therapy? Which diseases can be treated with Myoreflex Therapy? Myoreflex Therapy is a manual regulation therapy. Treatment is effected at the muscular side (myos) of the musculoskeletal system. At the same time treatment also affects all body functions and organs. What is pain? Pain can be regarded as a sign of a disturbed total body balance as well as a disturbed geometry of movement. Many different kinds of pain and degenerative changes develop due to various factors including postural asymmetry, biomechanical stress, lack of physical activity and psychological stress. Myoreflex Therapy principally involves the treatment of muscle insertions, i.e. the ends of the muscles. After an exact palpation and analysis of function has been completed, stimulation is applied to specific pressure points on the muscles. The resulting signals are transmitted to the brain where the stress pattern of the affected muscles is regulated. When the muscular and movement patterns change, pain is decreased, joints and soft tissue structures are being relieved and even chronic degenerative changes are being stopped and regenerated. 3 Myoreflex Therapy (Myo) Myoreflex therapy was developed by the German physician Dr. med. Kurt Mosetter. It developed from a multiplicity of different knowledge bases and sciences and contains the experiences and insights of old cultures as well as the results of modern physics and current medical knowledge. Elements of very different models of thought are fused together into a new and multilayered treatment and therapy concept. Relative to total body weight, the skeletal musculature is the most strongly developed human organ! Myoreflex therapy is a focused, manual pressure-point stimulation of the muscle base and beginning in functional connections, with the goal of liberation from pain. In other words, the therapist does not treat a muscle and its points of pain isolated, but always functionally coherently, within a total muscular network. This total network is only healthy, if the different forces of the muscles work harmoniously and are balanced with one another. If only one portion of the total network is disturbed (e.g. by one-sided tension of a muscle due to false posture), a muscular imbalance develops and pain can be the result, whereby the points of pain and pain causes can be in different places of the body. In Myoreflex therapy, neuromuscular and connective tissue reactions (reflexes) are released due to the focused, manual pressure-point stimulation. This leads to an immediate, spontaneous regularization of the tension in the muscle system and thus to the unburdening of joints and soft connective tissues. These stimulations cause the organism to regulate appropriately and re-establish a functional, pain-free anatomy. This is then connected with the disappearance of various symptoms, which can be caused by muscle-induced symmetry disturbances and chronic false loads.
