2 Background National Coverage Data National surveys are routinely conducted to assess vaccination coverage National Immunization Survey (NIS), National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) Michigan uses these data to measure progress and identify areas for improvement. NIS: NHIS: BRFSS:

3 Background MCIR Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) Implemented in 1998 for health care provider to track children s vaccinations Expanded to adults in 2006 Required reporting for childhood vaccinations, strongly encouraged reporting for adult vaccinations As of June 2014: Over 106 million immunization records 38.3 million adults 20 years of age and older Over 8.6 million basic demographic records 5.5 million adults 20 years of age and older Various reports created using MCIR data Profile reports, workbooks, flu vaccination summaries

4 Background - Michigan 9.8 million people Wayne county: 1.8 million Keweenaw county: 2, counties and the City of Detroit make up 45 Local Health Departments

5 Report Card Development MCIR data provides opportunity to compare county level data Summarize county data and existing reports in one place Internal MDCH group discussed which measures to include in the report card Development of a draft report card Presented the idea and received feedback from Michigan Advisory Committee on Immunizations (MACI) Immunization Action Plan Coordinators Michigan Association for Local Public Health (MALPH)
