The effect of repeated vaccination against Infectious Bursal Disease on some physiological and hematological parameters in chicks A.A.H.Shalash* F.F.Ahmed A.M.Hussain *Department of pathology and poultry College of Veterinary Medicine. University of Baghdad. Abstract The present investigation aimed at study effect of repeated vaccination against Infectious Bursal Disease (I.B.D.) on some physiological, metabolic and hematological parametrs. Sixty chicks, one day old were equally divided into four groups (G, G, G, G) and treated as follows: G: was left unvaccinated against (I.B.D.)as a control group. G: was vaccinated once against (I.B.D.) on 6 day of age. G: was vaccinated twice against (I.B.D.)on 6 and day of age. G: was vaccinated against (I.B.D.)on 6,, day of age.
7 Two weeks after the third vaccination blood samples were collected and used for estimation of total leukocyte count, heterophil and lymphocytes numbers and heterophil to lymphocyte ratio. Also estimated hemoglobin concentration packed cells volume and estimation of glucose, cholesterol, total protein, albumin and globulin concentration. Total leukocyte counts significantly (p<.5) increased in vaccinated groups compared to the control. The heterophil to lymphocyte ration continued to decrease significantly (p<.5) with increasing number of vaccination. Glucose concentrations, cholesterol levels, and total protein values showed a tendency toward reduction with increasing number of vaccinations in vaccinated groups compared with control. We conclude that repeated vaccination against (I.B.D.) induce increase in leukocytes and lymphocytes. The decreasing heterophil to lymphocyte (stress factor) in vaccinated groups might be used to explain that increasing number of vaccinations against (I.B.D.) did not expose bird to any stress or noticeable changes in physiological and Metabolic parameters.
