He could hardly walk because his body was aching all over. Darren s mother took him to the clinic to see Dr Quek. She explained to the doctor about Darren s symptoms. Then Dr Quek put a flat stick on his tongue and said, Open wide and say Ahhh!. She shone a light in his throat. Oh, it s row and red! She felt his neck and then checked his ears. Putting a stethoscope on Darren s back, the doctor listened to his chest. Darren had to take deep breaths in and out. After that, she checked his temperature with a thermometer. It was 38 degrees, so Darren had a fever. Said Dr Quek, You have got a flu so you should rest at home and take your medicine three times a day. Darren couldn t go to school for two days. He couldn t have cold drinks or spicy food until he got better. Darren s mother thanked the doctor and they went to collect the medicine from the nurse. 2
