1 Belleville Area Special Services Cooperative (BASSC) 2411 Pathways Crossing Belleville, IL (618) The Belleville Area Special Services Cooperative serves students in the 24 school districts within St. Clair County. Services are provided by itinerant teachers with services that range from teacher consultation to resource instruction. The communication modes are based on student needs and preference. It also has a self-contained class for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students at Prather Elementary School. Interpreter services are available as needed at the middle school and high school. Mid -State Special Education -Christian Region offers itinerant / resource services to the following areas: Morrisonville, Taylorville, Edinburg, Pana, South Fork, and Nokomis. The Bond /Fayette Region offers itinerant services to St. Elmo, Brownstown, Vandailia, Ramsey, Mulberry Grove, and Bond County. 6 Moog Center for Deaf Education South Forty Drive St. Louis, MO The Moog Center for Deaf Education is an independent, not-for-profit school that provides educational services to children with hearing loss, birth through the early elementary years and their families. Our goal at the Moog Center is to make it possible for more children with hearing loss to talk and experience success in their lives both in school and in the world at large. The focus of the curriculum is on the development of spoken language skills and includes a complete preschool program for children 3-5 and all academics for school age children. The Moog Center also provides audiology services, mainstream services, professional education, outreach programs and teleschool services. The Moog Center is considered a model program for other oral schools, and the Moog Center staff serve as consultants to numerous schools across the United States. Box 169 Red Bud, IL (618) This program employs two itinerant teachers who are available as needed for the following school districts: Chester CUSD # 139, Columbia CUSD # 4, Coulterville CUSD # 1, Prairie Du Rocher Comm. Dist. # 134, Red Bud CUSD # 132, Sparta CUSD #140, Steeleville CUSD # 138, Valmeyer CUSD #3, Waterloo CUSD #5. There is a primary classroom open as well. The location of the classroom is based upon the location of the students at the start of the school year. *Columbia CUSD #4 will be exiting the Perandoe Special Education District in the spring and will be providing their own D/HH services for their students. 9 St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf 1300 Strassner Brentwood, MO (636) Geographic Region: As international leaders in listening and spoken language, teacher training, school district collaborations and hearing aid and cochlear implant technology, St. Joseph Institute (SJI) partners with families and schools to develop strategies to best meet the unique needs of each child. With two urban campuses (St. Louis and Indianapolis) and innovative ihear Internet Therapy, SJI is helping children discover their voice. SJI s early intervention programs provide a continuum of care working with infants and young children as well as their families. Our supportive staff helps you navigate through your questions and challenges and guides you in your role as your child s first and most important teacher of language. Focused on the specific needs of your child and family, individual sessions are available in your home, other appropriate setting or over the Internet. We help you navigate the waters of advocating for your child and learning about their hearing aids or implants. The comprehensive program also includes family support services, peer play groups and cochlear implant rehabilitation. St. Joseph Institute operates a state-of-the-art audiology clinic located on the St. Louis campus. The clinic provides a full range of audiologic testing and services.
