There are following deficiencies in the Dental / Medical Teaching Staff:- (i) There are deficiencies of 2 Professors in the departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics. (ii) There is deficiency of 1 Reader in the department of Public Health Dentistry. (iii) There are deficiencies of 2 Readers in the department of Pharmacology and Anesthesiology. 3. There are deficiencies of dental chairs and many dental chairs are nonfunctional. 4. Observations:- Clinics (i) Oral Surgery clinic under construction. (ii) Orthodontics and Paedodontics clinics under construction. (iii) OPG is not available in OMR. 7(10) Govt. Dental College and Research Institute, Bellary To consider the Joint Inspection Report of the Council s Inspectors Dr. Raman Kapur, Hazaribag and Dr. Sumir Gandhi, Ludhiana (carried out on 25 th April, 2016) to verify the achievement of the annual target for admitting next batch of students in BDS Course with 50 seats at Govt. Dental College and Research Institute, Bellary for the academic session There is deficiency of 1 Lecturer in the Dental Teaching Staff. 2. There are deficiencies of Non-Teaching Staff / Ministerial Staff i.e. Receptionist 1, D.S.A. (Chair side attendant) 2, Dent. Tech. (Dental Mechanic) 3, A.C. Tech. 1, Security Personal Observations (i) Dental Van is deficient. (ii) There is deficiency of 1 BDS Tutor. No Photocopying area. 3. There are following deficiencies of Major Equipments in Various Departments: Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge: Dental Chairs and Units-5, Flask Press-2, Deflasking unit-2 Ceramic and Cast Partial Laboratory: Plaster room was not available separately Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics: Dental Chairs and Units-5, Autoclaves-1, Ceramic Unit-1, Casting Machine-1 Chemical Laboratory: Circular Saw-1( not available) Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery: Dental Chairs and Units-4 Periodontology: Dental Chairs and Units-4, Autoclave-1, Ultrasonic Cleaner-1 (some of the equipments were shared with VIP/Special Clinic) Orthodontics: Dental Chairs and Units-9, Unit mount scaler-3, Autocalve-1, Ultrasonic cleaner-1, Lathe-1, Typodont-2, Typhodont Articulator-2 Oral Medicine and Radiology: Intra Oral X-ray Unit-2, Autoclave-1 Public Health Dentistry: Dental Chairs and Units-6, Ultrasonic Cleaner-2, Needle burner with syringe cutter-3, Autoclaves-1, Intraoral X-ray-1, Glass bead sterilizers-1 4. Many Equipments were not connected with electricity/water and were observed not to be in use, in prosthetics labs/ceramic lab. 5. Stock books were not maintained for non-consumable items in many departments.

Venkateswara Rao, Khammam (carried out on 30 th April, 2016) to verify the achievement of the annual target for renewal of the Central Government permission for 4 th year BDS Course with increased intake capacity from 50 to 100 at Sri Sankara Dental College, Thiruvananthapuram for the academic session There is deficiency in Man Power Requirement - Class-IV including chowkiders Following Dental / Medical Teaching Staff were absent on the day of Inspection:- (i) Dr. Santhosh Kumaar, Prof., Anatomy 3. Observations:- (i) Out of 4 Lecture Halls in the dental College, only one is equipped with audio visual facilities. (ii) Books are grossly inadequate for intake of 100 students in the library. (iii) Dental Journals are not subscribed for (iv) E-library facilities (Digital Library) were not present. (v) AERB certification for all the radiology equipments in the dental hospital are not available. 4. There are deficiencies of Major Equipments in the following departments:- Prosthodontics and Crawn & Bridge:- Phantom Head-50 Oral Medicine & Radiology:- Panoramic X-Ray with Cephalomatric-1 (required preferably digital), Ortho Pantmograph-1 (required preferably digital),general X-ray Unit - 1, Automatic Developers/Dark Room 1, Intra Oral Camera 1. Sh. Chandrasekar, DSA(Chair Side Attendant) was absent on the day of inspection. 3. Students record keeping in all department needs to be improved. 3. All lecture theatres/clinics needs Air-cooler seeing the climate.

10 10 7(22) Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore To consider the Joint Inspection Report of the Council s Inspectors Dr. Aravind Shetty, Navi Mumbai and Dr. Manesh Lahori, Mathura (carried out on 30 th April, 2016) to verify the achievement of the annual target for renewal of the Central Government permission for 5 th year BDS Course with 100 seats at Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore for the academic session Dr. Shreelaxmi Hegde, Lecturer, Physiology & Biochemistry was absent on the day of inspection. 2. There is deficiency of 1 Reader in the department of Prosthodontics. 3. There are deficiencies of 7 Lecturers in the departments of Conservative Dentistry-4, Orthodontics-2, Dental Anatomy-1 4. No Back Volumes available. 7(23) Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Dental College, Solapur To consider the Joint Inspection Report of the Council s Inspector Dr. S.S. Hiremath, Bangalore and Dr. J.K. Dash, Cuttack (carried out on 27 th April, 2016) to verify the achievement of the annual target for renewal of the Central Government permission for 4 th year BDS Course with increased intake capacity from 40 to 100 at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Dental College, Solapur for the academic session Following Dental / Medical Teaching Staff were absent on the day of Inspection:- (i) Dr. Geeta Mallinath Vadaje, Lecturer, Oral Pathology (ii) Dr. Puja Pingle, Lecturer, Physiology (iii) Dr. Aradhey C.V., Reader, General Pathology (iv) Dr. Kole N.L., Reader, General Pathology (v) Dr. Sahah Mona Udayan, Prof. & HOD, Periodontia 2. Observations:- (i) Overall asepsis and hygienic conditions in all the departments are very poor. (ii) Record of the patients (clinical material) in each department on day to day basis is not maintained properly. (iii) Classroom infrastructure along with capacity for seating arrangement for 100 students is not adequate. (iv) Similarly, infrastructure and seating arrangement capacity in library is inadequate. (v) The dental chairs in the following departments are not functioning along with deficiency of chairs in some departments:- Public Health Dentistry 2, Prosthodontics 6, Oral Surgery 6, Conservative Dentistry 6, Periodontics 8, Orthodontics 5, Oral Medicine 5 (vi) No toilet facilities available for girls common room. (vii) Auditorium is under construction. (viii) There is no separate hall for university examination. On the whole, it needs an immediate improvement / repair / replacement in the infrastructure along with replacement of the dental chairs in all departments.

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery:- Minor Oral Surgery Kits 1. Orthodontics:- Typodont 1, Typodont Articulator 1. Paedodontics & Preventive Dentistry:- Extraction Forceps 1. Oral Medicine & Radiology:- Automatic Panoramic with Cephalometric X-ray Developer 1 Public Health Dentistry:- Mobile Dental Van. 4.
