1 Hawler Medical University College of Medicine Department of medicine Dermatology Syllabus for 5th Year Med Students Course Information: Course Title : Dermatology Credit Hours : Time Theoretical: 12:30-2:30pm Days 2 hours daily ( Saturday to Thursday ) Practical: 8:30-12:30 4 hours daily ( Saturday to Thursday ) Location Theoretical: Rizgary Teaching Hospital Practical: Rizgary Teaching Hospital (the department of dermatology) Head of Department: Dr. Intiha Mohamed Almosuly Coordinator: Dr. Ala a Sulaiman Department Location : College of medicine Office Hours : Office Phone Number(s) Address : Course Description Class Description Dermatology includes the study of the skin, hair, nail and their disease. Objectives At the end of the course of dermatology, the student should be able to 1. Recognize the common skin disease in the community. 2.Practice the specialty of dermatology in keeping with the principles of professional ethics 3.Ttake detailed history, perform full physical examination and make clinical diagnosis. 4. Being able to prescribe the appropriate treatment for each dermatologic disease. x) 5. Diagnose and manage dermatologic emergencies efficiently 6. Performing skilled and procedural practice. Materials and Resources This section includes information about the resources required for the successful completion of the class. 1

Attendance Students are expected to attend all classes and to complete all assignments for courses in which they are enrolled. An absence does not relieve the student of the responsibility to complete all assignments. If an absence is associated with a university-sanctioned activity, the instructor will provide an opportunity for assignment make-up. However, it is the instructor s decision to provide, or not to provide, make-up work related to absences for any other reason. Academic Honesty Plagiarism. In speaking or writing, plagiarism is the act of passing someone else s work off as one s own. In addition, plagiarism is defined as using the essential style and manner of expression of a source as if it were one s own. If there is any doubt, the student should consult his/her instructor or any manual of term paper or report writing. Violations of academic honesty include: 1. Presenting the exact words of a source without quotation marks; 2. Using another student s computer source code or algorithm or copying a laboratory report; or 3. Presenting information, judgments, ideas, or facts summarized from a source without giving credit. Cheating. Cheating includes using or relying on the work of someone else in an inappropriate manner. It includes, but is not limited to, those activities where a student: 1. Obtains or attempts to obtain unauthorized knowledge of an examination s contents prior to the time of that examination. 2. Copies another student s work or intentionally allows others to copy assignments, examinations, source codes or designs; 3. Works in a group when she/he has been told to work individually; 4.
