Metabolic syndrome a combination of high blood pressure, elevated blood glucose, abnormal lipid levels, and increased waist size is known to be associated with elevated risk for heart attack and stroke. Study of gender disparities among adults age 65 and older, women with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) or congestive heart failure (CHF) do not receive the same care as men.
