Serves > 5.5 million veterans More than 97 million outpatient visits 2000, U.S. Congress recognized the importance of preventing blindness from diabetes. Recommended VHA to collaborate with Joslin Vision Network (Boston, MA) to implement a technology based platform that uses non-mydriatic retinal imaging and remote image interpretation. (TELERETINAL IMAGING)
4 2006, VHA established its teleretinal screening program More than 1 million patients have been screened. VHA has developed a care management pathway (CMP) for patients with diabetes. Highly successful gold standard teleretinal program.
