Message from ACNS (Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons) and WFNS (World Federation of Neurological Surgeons) It gives me a great pleasure to give this message on the occasion of National EEG and

4 Message from ACNS (Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons) and WFNS (World Federation of Neurological Surgeons) It gives me a great pleasure to give this message on the occasion of National EEG and Epilepsy Surgery workshop being organised by AIIMS, New Delhi and BHU, Varnasi and funded by Dept of Biotechnology (Ministry of Science & Technology) and INDO-U.S. SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY FORUM (IUSSTF). I congratulate Prof Manjari Tripathi and Prof P Sarat Chandra of taking this initiative to spread awareness for Epilepsy and epilepsy surgery to various corners of India and abroad. I am happy to note that their center Centre of Excellence for Epilepsy and MEG is able to come up to the challenge of dissipating the knowledge of epilepsy surgery to various parts of the country. Both WFNS (World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies) and ACNS (Asian Congress of Neuro Surgeons) are happy to support and acknowledge this congress. I am happy to note that over 250 delegates will be attending this congress of which 50 students are being provided free travelling fellowships and complimentary registration. Such support will go a long way to spread education in this field India has over 10 million people suffering from epilepsy and over 2 million have drug resistant epilepsy. Considering that there are very few centers, there is an urgent need to spread education and awareness in this area of sub-speciality I wish the congress all the best Prof Yoko Kato (on behalf of ACNS and WFNS)

5 Message from Conference Secretariat It gives us great pleasure to give this message on the occasion of National EEG and Epilepsy Surgery workshop being organized by AIIMS, New Delhi and BHU, Varnasi and funded by Dept of Biotechnology (Ministry of Science & Technology) and INDO-U.S. SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY FORUM (IUSSTF). We are also grateful to the Indian Epilepsy Society (IES), Departments of Neurology & Neurosurgery at BHU, Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons and World Federation of Neurological Surgeons for having supported us in this venture The whole idea of this course is to cover certain niche areas in EEG and Epilepsy Surgery. Generally, it is not possible to cover these topics extensively in large conferences. In addition, it is only possible in smaller workshops and conferences to cover these areas more extensively. India has over 10 million people suffering from epilepsy and over 2 million have drug resistant epilepsy.
