2 PROGRAM OVERVIEW The goal of the 2nd Annual NYC Pain Symposium is to provide clinicians in the tri-state community with a comprehensive review of cutting-edge practices in the diagnosis and management of pain disorders. A broad spectrum of disorders including fibromyalgia, diabetic neuropathy, migraine, and spinal pain will be addressed. Also included for the first time this year will be the role of the placebo in pain, and a testimonial from a patient living with neuropathy. Through didactic lecture and interactive discussions with expert clinicians, attendees will learn current medical and cutting-edge diagnostic and interventional practices that will prepare them to diagnose and manage patients living with pain in 2015 and beyond. Educational Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to: Develop a comprehensive management strategy for patients with neuropathic pain of various etiologies. Define menstrual migraine and discuss an appropriate management plan. Describe the role of the placebo effect in the management of pain. Formulate a diagnostic workup and treatment plan for the patient with fibromyalgia. Discuss the role of balloon augmentation for patients with osteoporosisrelated vertebral compression fracture. Target Audience Neurologists, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, physiatrists (PM&R), psychiatrists, primary care providers, residents and fellows, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Accreditation The is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation The designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
