9 ACADEMIC/TEACHING EXPERIENCE, Baylor University Supervisory Instructor January 2014 May 2014 Graduate Teaching: Instructor of Record for the Following Courses Baylor University, Waco, TX August December 2007; August 2009 August 2013 Exercise Physiology Laboratory: The purpose of this course was to introduce many of the basic laboratory procedures and testing protocols in exercise physiology. This course allowed for hands on experience with the equipment that the students may be required to operate in future work settings. Fitness and Health Concepts, Testing and Programs: The purpose of this course was to introduce fitness concepts, testing, and program development. The course teaches avenues in which to portray physical activity concepts to others. Students learned techniques for measuring and evaluating physical fitness and how to interpret these results (blood pressure, body composition, nutritional assessments, and stress management). This course introduces concepts of providing individualized as well as group exercise leadership and health fitness instruction. In addition, current trends in health and wellness are introduced along with aerobic and anaerobic exercise, flexibility, biomechanics, and lifestyle activities for both basic health and athletic performance. Beginning & Intermediate Weight Training: Developed and implemented lesson plans, which consisted of both written and applied principles of resistance training. The courses primary focus was on the fundamentals of resistance exercise, which included basic anatomy and physiology, along with basic techniques and various safety concerns. Fitness Theory and Practice: Course curriculum consisted of a lecture portion followed by practical application of the materials. All aspects of health and wellness were covered, including both physiological and psychological principles affecting health behavior. Topics included but were not limited to aerobic and anaerobic exercise, flexibility, basic nutrition, lifestyle activities and stress management.
