Keep bent elbow at your side with hand in front of your body holding exercise band. 3. Pull hand away from your body without moving elbow. 1. Tie exercise band at waist level. 2. Stand up with back to exercise band. 3. Hold end of band in hand. 4. Pull your hand forward while keeping arm straight. 1. Tie exercise band to solid object at waist level. 2. Stand with injured arm next to band. 3. Hold elbow at side with band in hand. 4. Start with arm away from body and pull arm across body without moving elbow. 1. Tie exercise band at waist level. 2. Stand facing band. 3. Hold end of band in hand. 4. Pull your hand backward while keeping arm straight. 1 of 6
2 1. Sit up straight in chair. 2. Tie exercise band to secure object at shoulder level. 3. Place ends of band in each hand. 4. Pull back on band with arms at shoulder level. 5. Squeeze shoulder blades together as you pull back. 1. Lie on your side with injured shoulder down. 2. Hold arm on injured side out with elbow bent and touching your waist. 3. Pull hand across your body while keeping elbow at your side. 1. Stand up with injured arm at your side. 2. Put a one or two pound hand weight in your hand with thumb up. 3. Turn hand over then lift arm in front of your body to shoulder level. Lift arm over your head only if approved by your doctor. 1. Lie on your side with injured shoulder up. 2. Relax arm across your body with elbow bent and touching your side. 3. Lift hand up while keeping elbow at your side. This exercise can be done holding a 1 2 of 6
3 1. Stand up straight with injured arm at your side and palm facing forward. 2. Raise your arm out to the side to shoulder level. 1. Lie on your belly on a table. 2. Rest injured arm off table toward the floor. 3. Lift arm to shoulder level with thumb facing up. 4. Keep arm straight and squeeze shoulder blades together as you lift the arm. 1. Stand in front of a table. 2. With back straight, lean forward and put the hand of your healthy arm on a table for support. 3. Raise the elbow of your injured arm to shoulder level. 1. Stand up straight with arms at your sides. 2. Lift shoulders up toward your ears and roll them backward. 3 of 6
4 1. Lie on your back with your arm straight up in the air. 2. Push your shoulder up toward the ceiling.
