1 ONTARIO REPORT
2 Ontarians Support Safe Spaces for Medicinal Cannabis The Canabis Friendly Business Association (CFBA) commissioned a poll this week to see how Ontario feels about protecting safe space for medicinal cannabis patients. An overwhelming majority of people would support safe spaces for medicinal cannabis patients across Ontario. 56% approve of safe spaces for medical cannabis patients to learn about and consume cannabis, including almost 30% strongly approving. Medicinal cannabis patients who will soon be banned from using cannabis to relieve pain, treat debilitating diseases like PTSD and epilepsy, and who rely on cannabis to counter the effects of chemotherapy do have public support in their fight to maintain safe spaces. "The Ontario Government plan to grant an exemption to Mecicinal Cannabis patients under Bill 45 was a good one." said CFBA spokesperson Abi Roach. "Their reversal of this decision and decision to regulate medicinal cannabis under tobacco legislation is just bad policy." she finished. "Tens of thousands of patients across Ontario will be immediately cut off from their medicinal cannabis supports and hundreds of thousands of future patients will not have access to the expertise and support services offered in safe spaces." said CFBA member Jon Liedtke. "A growing number of medicinal cannabis patients are seniors who have little or no experience with cannabis and need more supports, not less. As anyone who has a chronic or acute health conditions knows, it can be scary and difficult to navigate our healthcare system at times. It is no different for medicinal cannabis patients." he concluded. CFBA is a small business association that is advocating for maintaining the exemption for medicinal cannabis under Bill 45 as originally intended in that legislation. Our members, partners and patients who rely on the supports we provide, call on the Ontario government to reconsider. CFBA has launched a fundraising campaign across Ontario to help fight this ban. To join CFBA or make a donation to these efforts, visit Poll Methodology CFBA commissioned Mainstreet Research, a well known national pollster to gauge the public opinon of Ontarians. With 2,506 respondents the poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.9, 19 times out of 20. The numbers for Scarborough-Rouge River have a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2%, 19 times out of 20.
