1 they have been through during treatment, the holiday is needed by the mums almost as much as it is for their children. Our second group were also very young. Arseny, Igor, Nastya, Sofia and Ghenya were just 4 years old. They stayed together in an apartment in New Mills for the first week and then with families in our Glossop & New Mills Group. Some of these children had been diagnosed with cancer as very young Happy Holidays Summer 2017 Our Endon & Stoke group hosted the first children of the year, a group of five year olds with their mums. The children enjoyed parks and soft play centres; boat rides and train trips; Poole s cavern and Monkey Forest; Chatsworth House and Alton Towers; a day at the seaside; plus visits to the optician and the dentist And the mothers enjoyed the trips and days out just as much as the children did. After all the stresses babies, so they were probably born with the disease. They are all in remission now and enjoyed a happy and energetic holiday. The mums were delighted to meet High Peak MP Ruth George. She told them about her daughter having cancer as a child, and the relief on their faces was visible when Ruth said that her daughter is now a tall, healthy 22 year old.

2 The mothers enjoying a Pimms on a rare sunny afternoon. The children always had a great time, rain or shine! The group have just spent a week at RAF Shawbury where they took part in all sorts of amazing activities and all the children had the chance to sit in a Red Arrow! Teenagers staying in Solihull visit the Butterfly Farm in Stratford upon Avon The children staying with our Stafford & Stone Group had a visit to the Regent Theatre in Stoke where they took part in a Theatre Workshop before watching a professional performance of The Tiger who came to Tea. Other activities have so far included Churnett Valley Railway, making dens on The Wrekin, visiting Ford Hall Organic Farm and a day at the seaside.

3 The Solihull group also went to the seaside, sailing at Shustoke, swimming and outdoor adventure activities, had a day at Drayton Manor and trips to opticians and dentist. In their second fortnight they are staying all together at Lindsworth School in Kings Norton where they will take part in lots of activities and have days out at WarwicK and Kenilworth castles, horse riding and visiting London. Our Gloucester group hosted ten children for the first fortnight of their holiday. Like all our groups, these young people are in remission from cancer. They went climbing, swimming, boating, sailing and horse riding and visited Drayton Manor and the Maize Maze at Elton. Then the group moved on to Leeds where one of their first activities was to visit The Thackray Medical Museum where they learned to paint very realistic wounds on to their arms and faces. They liked these so much that they refused to wash them off at the end of the session! The children are enjoying another busy fortnight. Like many of the groups, some of their outings are sponsored by Lions and Rotary.

4 Our Endon & Stoke teenagers as always have been taking part in lots of outdoor adventure activities at Kibblestone Camp and the Alfrey Activity Centre. They are our oldest group, at years, and we usually find that they get even more from the holiday than the younger children do, boosting their confidence and their hopes for the future as well as their immune systems. After spending time with host families, the seventeen teenagers all stay together in the second fortnight at Cicely Haughton School at Wetley Rocks. 5 Our great team of Zhuravichi Volunteers left Manchester Airport the day after most of them had finished working in school and as always they provided a wonderful two weeks of care and attention as well as lots of fun and activities for the children and young people living in the institution.

6 Ptich Holiday Camp Our first group of volunteers left Ptich on Saturday. The only thing that made leaving Belarus easy for me was knowing that we had left behind some very happy children and young adults. They never stopped smiling which was wonderful" said Millie McDonald-Webb. We now have a second group working just as hard to provide a holiday to remember for disabled children and young people, from Rechitsa Boarding Home; from Zhuravichi and Vikov institutions; the young people who live in our family homes Rodni Kut and Klimovka ; and some disabled children who are on holiday with their mums. For the first time this year we have some volunteers at Rechitsa Boarding Home. Usually all the children go to Ptich but this year they were not all able to go to the Camp, and there are now many young adults living at Rechitsa, so we have four volunteers providing activities for them in the Boarding Home.
