6 Witnesses to Hunger A research and advocacy project partnering with the real experts on hunger, mothers and caregivers of young children who have experienced hunger and poverty. Through their photographs and stories, witnesses advocate for their own families and others and seek to create las'ng changes on a local, state and na'onal level.

7 Tammy SanCago, Witnesses to Hunger - Boston TAMMY is a 24- year- old mother of two. She was studying poli'cal science at Northeastern University but needed to take 'me off from school to work to support her family. As a teen mom, Tamara faced a lot of challenges that she had to overcome, including living in a shelter. She works very hard to make a beker life for her and her children. Literally Nothing In the shelter, everybody gets a cupboard. That s one person s cupboard. They don t have any food, and they live in the shelter. It s sad. Literally nothing, not even a speck, and I was just so surprised. I didn t say anything, cause I felt so bad. And she has a son. I don t know what he eats. I give her food all the 'me. I feel bad. I m not going to let her starve, or her son starve.
