4 Intended Outcomes Can group based parent support and education reduce harm, and increase support for the young person? Can systemic change be achieved in a group program? How can family-youth relationship ruptures be addressed through the development of parental insight, empathy and provision of support? What does change look like in AOD family inclusive practice? 4

6 What is LYFT? Linking Youth and Families Together (LYFT) LYFT is a Youth Drug Treatment Program funded by the Victorian DHHS that works with young people, and those most influential in their network in order to: Improve family engagement in young people s treatment for alcohol and other drug problems. Reduce harms caused to young people as a result of problematic alcohol and other drug use. Improve the management of relapse through improved family support for young people. Improve long-term health and wellbeing outcomes for young people and their family. 6

19 What participants have said Knowing that there are other people going through what we are meeting them in a group eliminates feelings of isolation. For me, the learning has been more about myself and my own parenting as opposed to the difficulties experiences with our son. I wasn t sure what I expected but the course has been invaluable Every week has been great learning something new, every week has been great. 19
