2 Happy New Year! 2008 is already upon us. This year is sure to have many wonderful opportunities, expectations, and blessings, and I hope that your New Year is starting out to be a good one. Some of you will make resolutions others will just go with the flow. I am already excited about this year especially because a new Star Trek movie is coming out to a theater near you this December (woo-hoo!). We have many exciting events planned for this year, including a golf tournament, a tour (it is tentatively planned to be at a sewage treatment plant), and many exciting general meetings. Volume 3 of the ASPE Data book will be released soon and the ASPE Engineered Plumbing Exposition will be held this October in Long Beach, California (hopefully many of you can turn out). Our next meeting will be on January 15th at Aunt Chilada s. The topic will be Electrical Requirements for Plumbing Equipment, which sounds like it will have a lot of relevant information. Don t forget about the Adopt a Plumbing Engineer day on January 15th! Until next time...

3 Happy New Year to all of you great ASPE Members and Friends. And another year went by, just like that. I hope it was a good year and the upcoming year will get better. Our last event was the bi-annual table top ASPE/ASHRAE product show. This was by far the biggest event ever I a new place. Please let us know what you thought about the new location, set up etc. We appreciate input from all members and attendees. Our next usual lunch time meeting is on January at Aunt Chiladas. Al Kreuger, the electrical engineer from Pearson Engineering will tell us what information we need to provide to electrical department in order for them to properly design the system to support our equipment. 4 Happy New Year... Well, another year has come and gone and the valley has seen a big change in the code world. This past year the city of Phoenix and the city of Glendale have implemented the UPC I m sure others are soon to follow. Mike Olson will be putting a link on the website for a spreadsheet that has cities and counties listed with the corresponding codes. Mike has also just uploaded 3 new articles from our friend Jay Mundy at the city of Phoenix. You can find these in Jay s Mundygram on the ASPE Phoenix website. A smaller noteworthy item that rolled into my over the Christmas break is that commercial prerinse spray valves shall now have a flow rate equal to or less than 1.6 gallons per minute. And since I have done quite a few kitchens lately, don t forget that a 3 compartment sink can no longer be a multi purpose fixture. We are looking forward to a great year at ASPE. The next fun thing on ASPE Phoenix s agenda is to have a what s wrong with this picture section on the website. Installation mistakes and such will be the contents of the picture and we have to guess what those mistakes are. I m looking forward to the challenge. Hopefully 2008 will bring all of you many blessings and prosperity. See you at the next meeting!

5 Happy New Year fellow ASPE members. Only a few days remain! The date is fast approaching for our First Annual Adopt an Engineer. January 15th at Aunt Chilada s, Squaw Peak location. Below is a friendly reminder on what we need to make this a success from all interested parties. Your cooperation is needed with two areas. Chapter Affiliate Members/ Vendors/Engineering Firms, etc who are willing to sponsor/pay for lunch for those plumbing engineers in the industry that are currently not active with ASPE, but would benefit from attending and joining ASPE in the future. The second area is from the Pluming Engineers, fellow ASPE members and others that work with non ASPE members in their offices and those non members who have always wanted to attend a luncheon. This will be an opportunity to help spread the word about what ASPE is all about and the value it brings to their industry If you are interested (Chapter Affiliates, Vendors, Engineering Firms,Etc) in sponsoring or adopting a plumbing engineer for the day please contact by at drobertson@arizonapneumatic.com. Additionally, if you are a current ASPE member in the industry and know of a peer in your office that would benefit from attending our January luncheon please me your contact information and the individual that is interested in attending.
