2 ABOUT NDA The National Demolition Association (NDA) serves as the voice of the demolition industry, providing education, advocacy, and industry updates to members while increasing public awareness of the economic and societal benefits of demolition. NDA represents more than 600 firms from across the demolition industry. We facilitate a collaborative environment, connecting our members with their peers and service providers within the industry to enable business performance and growth. Our members on most demolition projects recycle, salvage or reuse 90% of material.

7 EDUCATION AND TRAINING Education Resources NDA offers member s world class training opportunities for foreman, field superintendents, project managers or anyone interested in advancing their career in the demolition industry. In addition to online courses and web-based learning, the NDA offers the Foundations of Demolition Management series, four seminars that total 40 hours of classroom instruction focusing on the foundations of demolition management. This series culminates in a Certificate of Demolition Management.

11 GOVERNMENT ADVOCACY NDA is shaping the demolition industry on a national and global scale, advocating on behalf of its members. The association s efforts help members stay abreast of environmental, regulatory and safety matters, keep regulators informed about issues facing the industry, increase public and industry awareness, and provide members with networking opportunities and information on the latest technical advances in equipment and services. NDA advocates on behalf of our members and the demolition industry on the following issues:

12 2018 POLICY PRIORITIES Workplace Safety & Health NDA believes that lawmakers and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) should balance regulations that provide for a safe and healthy work environment while protecting demolition businesses. NDA members take their safety programs seriously and OSHA should work with our member companies to ensure enforcement is tailored to industry offenders. Labor & Human Resources NDA and member companies firmly believe that employees and employers should have the right to determine issues such as wages and working conditions, through either individual or collective bargaining, within the boundaries of the law.

13 2018 POLICY PRIORITIES Tax Policy NDA supports a simplified tax code that does not place an unnecessary burden on job-creating member companies. Higher marginal tax rates, taxes and fees on assets, and other confiscatory proposals would have a significant impact on small and medium-sized employers- many of which make up the demolition industry and our members. Environmental Stewardship NDA and member companies have reputable track records of engaging in practices that take the environment into consideration. NDA remains committed to working with the federal government to ensure environmental regulations are considered with demolition contractors and their employees in mind.

14 2018 POLICY PRIORITIES Healthcare The availability of quality healthcare benefits is a huge priority for NDA and its member companies and we support proposals that address the increasing costs of health insurance. NDA urges Congress to provide more choices to employers and workers and allow private insurers to compete in the market. Disaster Response NDA The demolition industry is ready and willing to aid in disaster response, yet there are currently a number of fundamental barriers to the full and complete cooperation of the industry. NDA supports lowering these barriers so that our members can effectively assist with rescue, recovery and clean-up operations following large-scale disasters.
