18 IRRS and Advisory Missions IRRS Programme Peer review concept Other types of external review are available to the States such as: Advisory Missions Aimed at specific needs and requests of the States Aimed at States in early stages of establishing a national infrastructure

19 IRRS and Advisory Missions An Advisory Mission provides for: Discussion of regulatory technical issues within a prior agreed scope Advice on improvement, regardless of the level of development of facilities and activities involving ionizing radiation Evaluation of the State s regulatory infrastructure for safety against IAEA Standards and international undertakings, in accordance with the agreed scope of the mission Recommendations and an action plan for improvement

20 The Regulatory Authority Information System (RAIS) The Regulatory Authority Information System (RAIS) is a software application developed by the IAEA to assist the regulatory bodies in managing their regulatory programme RAIS promotes a consistent and common approach to the regulatory control, in accordance with Safety Standards and Code of Conduct RAIS is customizable to match national regulatory systems
