The event will be held in English. Member States are invited to designate participants for this event. Member States are strongly encouraged to identify suitable women participants. The IAEA is generally not in a position to bear the travel and other costs of participants in the event. The IAEA has, however, limited funds at its disposal to help meet the cost of attendance of certain participants. Such assistance may be offered upon specific request to normally one participant per country provided that, in the IAEA s view, the participant will make an important contribution to the event. The application for financial support should be made at the time of designating the participant. It should be noted that compensation is not payable by the IAEA for any damage to or loss of personal property. The IAEA also does not provide health insurance coverage for participants in events. Arrangements for private insurance coverage on an individual basis should therefore be made. The IAEA will, however, provide insurance coverage for accidents and illnesses that clearly result from any work performed for the IAEA. 3 Workshop on the Integrated Review Service for Radioactive Waste and Spent Fuel Management, Decommissioning and Remediation (ARTEMIS) IAEA Headquarters Vienna, Austria 4 March March 2019 Ref. Background For several decades, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been providing its Member States with review services for radioactive waste and spent fuel management, decommissioning and remediation of sites contaminated by radioactive materials. With a view to having a single, well identified service relating to any of these responsibilities, the IAEA has established the Integrated Review Service for Radioactive Waste and Spent Fuel Management, Decommissioning and Remediation (ARTEMIS). The ARTEMIS reviews may cover entire national frameworks, including, as adequate, decommissioning, remediation, radioactive waste management and spent fuel management. They may also consider the associated legislation and regulatory systems, and national programmes to provide the necessary resources, planning and implementation for the associated activities and facilities. The reviews may also focus on a detailed assessment and advise on the implementation of specific programmes and project activities, with an emphasis on technology, or on safety, or both.

Objectives of the Workshop The objectives of the workshop are: To present IAEA s implementation of ARTEMIS reviews in response to Member State requests, in line with the ARTEMIS objectives of providing feedback and opportunity to help improve and advance the national activities relating to radioactive waste and spent fuel management, decommissioning and remediation; To collect up-to-date feedback from the ARTEMIS missions from the host organizations of Member States for further development and improvement of the ARTEMIS review service; To exchange information with Member States on key milestones at which a review mission can help to improve the national context; To facilitate the exchange of information between Member States on their further needs for IAEA support through ARTEMIS; To identify the areas of continued and specific interest for support from ARTEMIS. C. Expected outcomes The outcomes of discussions and information exchange during the workshop will include the following: Collection of feedback from the ARTEMIS missions organized to date; Input for further development of the activities under ARTEMIS; Identification of Member State needs and priorities in the scope of operation of ARTEMIS and in the preparation for the reviews; Input to forthcoming IAEA activities related to ARTEMIS review service.. Participants The workshop is intended for organizations with responsibilities focused on radioactive waste and spent fuel management, decommissioning or remediation; governmental policy- and decision-makers; regulatory bodies; and facility operators and other implementing organizations, as well as their technical experts. Specifically, representatives of Member State organizations which hosted an ARTEMIS mission to date are encouraged to attend to share their experience. Member States are strongly encouraged to identify suitable women participants. The meeting is directed at a broad spectrum of professional disciplines related to decommissioning, remediation, and/or radioactive waste management programmes.

5 Page 3 F. Application Procedure Designations should be submitted using the attached Participation Form (Form A). Completed requests should be endorsed by the competent national authority (e.g. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Mission to the IAEA, or National Atomic Energy Authority), or by an organization invited to participate, and returned through the established official channels. They must be received by the IAEA not later than 4 January Designations received after that date or applications sent directly by individuals or by private institutions cannot be considered. Designating Governments and invited organizations will be informed in due course of the names of the selected candidates and at that time full details will be given on the procedures to be followed with regard to administrative and financial matters. The application for financial support should be made at the time of designating the participant(s). If Governments wish to apply for a grant on behalf of one of their experts, they should address specific requests to the IAEA to this effect. Governments should ensure that applications for grants are submitted by 4 January 2019 using a signed Grant Application Form (Form C). Approved grants will be issued in the form of a lump sum payment that usually covers only part of the cost of attendance. H. Venue The workshop will be held at the IAEA s Headquarters in Vienna, Austria and will start on Monday, 4 March Participants are advised to arrive one hour prior to the convening time of the workshop to allow for timely registration. Participants will need to present an official photo identification document in order to be admitted to the VIC premises. Visas Participants who require a visa to enter Austria should submit the necessary application to the nearest diplomatic or consular representative of Austria at least four weeks before they travel to Austria. Since Austria is a Schengen State, persons requiring a visa will have to apply for a Schengen visa. In States where Austria has no diplomatic mission, visas can be obtained from the consular authority of a Schengen Partner State representing Austria in the country in question
