Cabbage offers phytochemicals with anticancer properties. Cabbage was introduced in North America in 1541 by French explorer, Jacques Cartier. Many ships carried cabbage for the sailors so they wouldn t get scurvy. Cabbage juice was used to heal wounds and as a cough remedy. Most of the cabbage grown is used for making coleslaw. Bell peppers are the fruit of a vegetable plant, and most people refer to them as vegetables. There are green (the least sweet), red, yellow, orange, purple and brown bell peppers. A red bell pepper is a mature green pepper. Peppers are native to Mexico, Central America and Northern South America. Now, most are grown in China.
