24 24 BBMRI-LPC - WP 9 To establish a research program on the sample handling processes through the whole production chain used by service providers (biobanks) and balanced with customers demands on costs, speed, versatility and sample quality. To organize national and pan-european sample quality and sustainability studies for different biological materials e.g. serum, plasma, cells etc. Develop a protocol for sample quality assessment Both of the above activities will have a special focus on pre-analytic the quality requirements from various high-throughput -omics platforms To find the right balance between improved technological solutions, quality and costs

25 25 Finally Biobanks build on public trust, and high ethical awareness must govern all biobank processes to protect the safety, integrity and autonomy of sample donors
