1 DETECTION OF MICROBIAL ACTIVITY FOR MILK PRODUCTS USING GAS SENSOR ALONG WITH BLUETOOTH S.ANANDHARAJ J.ARUN. 1 Mr.K.RAMACHANDIRAN 2 1 Student, Dept of ECE, IFET College of Engineering, Villupuram 2 Associate Professor, Dept of ECE, IFET College of Engineering, Villupuram ABSTRACT: It is necessary to develop tools for real-time and smart sensing for quality monitoring to make appropriate and timely decision As the raw milk is stored for many days the growth of bacteria will be more which results in undesirable smell, taste and toxic substances There should be appropriate measures to handle the raw milk in order to avoid degradable effects To ensure the quality of the milk Raw or stored milk contain pathogenic organisms which could result in illness if consumed INTRODUCTION: Furthermore, it is considered as a rich source of essential amino acids for human nutrition, and its protein may have good effects on growth and recovery from under nutrition. Bovine milk contributes with 85% of global production. According to the most recent report of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, world milk production in 2013 was 769 million tonnes. Within this scenario, Brazil is the major milk producer in Latin America and the fourth in the world, with 34.3 million tonnes annually. Because of the dairy sector importance in the economy as a whole, the constant monitoring of the milk quality becomes imperative in industrial manufacturing facilities for characterizing the different types of milk, and also to identify possible adulteration. Additionally, it turns necessary to keep an effective control in the selection of raw materials for the production of certain dairy products, as for example, specific types of cheeses, offering authentic products for the consumers One of the biggest obstacles in proper determination of milk quality arises from a wide diversity among various milk samples. Bovine milk is a complex multi-component liquid whose total solids, fat droplets and other components are immersed or dissolved in an aqueous background to form an intricate

2 substance. The constituents of milk exhibit widely differing characteristic lengths, leading to wide spatial scaling. The determination of milk constituents are generally made through laboratory analysis by means of different chemical processes. As reported in, the routine chemical approaches used are costly and time consuming, require skilled labor, suffer from large amounts of chemical reagent, demand high water consumption, and generates high waste liquid emissions. The developed dedicated system allows to perform in-situ measurements. Milk adulteration is also investigated using a near-infrared diffuse reflection based methodology, where the system response is monitored while gradually adding water to the samples, validating the feasibility of using this process in substitution of cryoscope-based laboratory tests. an opt fluidic micro viscometer is implemented in order to investigate its potential employment in milk adulteration analysis by means of the addition of water, flour, starch, and urea. A sensor based on microwave absorption is explored in for determination of moisture content in milk. The results showed a good correlation between the total solids content of various milk samples with the normalized signal strength. The main disadvantage of this technique is the invasive way of the measurements EXISTING SYSTEM Determination of solids and fat contents in bovine milk using a phase locked resonant cavity sensor A complete measurement system was proposed, which comprised a controller, an RCS operated and a signal acquisition processing circuit This circuit consisted of offthe-shelf radio frequency (RF) components and is based on a phase-locked loop (PLL) Nine milk samples were used in order to validate the measurements, whose physicochemical characteristics were previously analyzed following a rigorous methodology Preliminary results showed a linear stable response of the sensor with a good sensitivity, proving that the system is very promising for real-time monitoring of milk quality at industrial scale PROPOSED SYSTEM The proposed system is designed with MQ-3 Semiconductor Sensor for the purpose of real time quality analysis of raw milk products.the sensors were formulated and calibrated to a various concentrations of volatile organic compounds which were responsible for volatile milk flavors.the proposed prototype is an Arduino uno which monitors the unwanted ingredients present in the tested milk.earlier analysis of raw milk was carried with highly advanced analytical instruments such as FTIR, UV-visible Spectrometer and mass chromatograph.these Instruments do not

3 provide high portability, feasibility while handling which results in to high costs and creates more complex situation.the results shown by this instruments are with very poor accuracy command is an instruction given to LCD to do a predefined task like initializing it, clearing its screen, setting the cursor position, controlling display etc ARDUINO UNO The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board BLOCK DIAGRAM based on the ATmega328 (datasheet). It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz ceramic resonator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started GAS SENSOR MQ-3 Semiconductor Sensor for Alcohol. It has high sensitivity to Alcohol and good resistance to disturb of gasoline, smoke and vapor. The sensor could be used to detect alcohol with different concentration. Low cost and suitable for different application LCD A 16x2 LCD means it can display 16 characters per line and there are 2 such lines. In this LCD each character is displayed in 5x7 pixel matrix. This LCD has two registers, namely, Command and Data.The command register stores the command instructions given to the LCD. A ADVANTAGES Simple and cost efficient Portable Reliable when compared to existing methods

4 Fit for all platforms (industrial& domestical) APPLICATIONS Industrial purposes Farm house Quality testing CONCLUSION This novel method proposed is used for decision making with threshold limit to detect the presence of volatile organic compounds which are major reasons for off flavors of milk. The samples physicochemical constituents were obtained following AOAC methodology, verifying that they were in consonance with official regulation in Brazil. A high correlation and a linear dependence between the system response and the volume fraction of total solids and fat were found. Furthermore, the sensor s geometry was designed for compatibility with milking pipeline at industrial facilities. As a result, the complete system proves very attractive for online non-invasive and nondestructive monitoring of milk composition, providing a faster response and simpler installation compared to other reported techniques.
