He is involved as well as an adjunct professor of Curtain University, School of Medicine in Australia. Prof Ecker expertise in arthroscopic surgery and microsurgery. While he is the chairman for both Western Australian Hand Surgery and Asia Pacific Wrist Association (education committee), he also holds appointments as a secretary for Australian Hand Surgery Society and Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for surgery of the hand as a board member.

2 Prof Keiji Fujio Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery Centre Kansai Electric Power Hospital, Japan Prof Keiji Fujio is at present based at Kansai Electric Power Hospital in the capacity of in the Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery Centre. He did his fellowship in Orthopaedics at the Kurashiki Central Hospital, Japan and is a corresponding member of the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (IFSSH), Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (APSSH), as well as Asian Pacific Wrist Association (APWA). He is also currently holding teaching appointments as a clinical professor of Kansai medical University and Kyoto University. After a postgraduate research year at Stanford University in the United States he commenced his orthopaedic residency training in the Netherlands. During his training he developed a keen interest in hand and wrist surgery and combined his clinical work with academic research on the treatment of arthritic disorders of the wrist. His research resulted in a PhD thesis on surgery of the wrist in rheumatoid arthritis.
