ICROBIOLOGY REPORT: The June 2005 issue of icrobiology onthly Report, Volume 10, presents the laboratory diagnosis of some of the infectious diseases, the reference microbiology work done in this laboratory during ay 2005 and new cases of syphilis in ilwaukee during April Information on the laboratory diagnosed mycobacterial infections in Wisconsin during April is also included. Legionnaires Disease (ay 2005) No positive case detected. Pertussis (Whooping cough,(ay 2005) No positive case detected.. 4 -Pulmonary Sources of Isolation:. tuberculosis -pulmonary: 3 lymph node, 1 neck mass, 1 retro-peritoneal. avium complex pulmonary: 2 blood, 1 finger, 1 lung lesion, 1 paracentesis. gordonae -pulmonary: 1 nasal Other ycobacterium species 1 bovis BCG urine, 1 abscessus buttock, 1 abscessus elbow Wisconsin TB Isolations and Antibiotic Susceptibilities: 6 of the TBC isolates reported by Wisconsin laboratories this month were from Wisconsin TB cases. 1 case was from out-of-state. 4 of the TB isolates were susceptible to all first-line drugs tested. 1 isolate was resistant to INH (0.2 ug/ml and 1.0 ug/ml), rifampin and ethambutol. The isolate was susceptible to PZA. 1 isolate was susceptible to INH, rifampin, and ethambutol and resistant to PZA. 1 isolate was not tested (out-of-state).
