RES 121 Restrictions: Restricted to RES majors. - Pathophysiology This course is a study of the general principles analyses of normal diseased states. RES 110 RES Respiratory Skills I Lec: 3.5 Lab: 1.5 Credit: 4.0 This course includes a study of basic respiratory therapy procedures their administration. This course presents the theory of equipment procedures for patients requiring general cardiopulmonary care. Emphasis is on medical gas therapy, aerosol humidity therapy. 1

Emphasis is on chest physics therapy, suctioning, airway care specific procedures regarding airway clearance maintenance. Lab data, chest tubes, chest X-rays arterial blood gasses are included. Chest tube drainage systems chest X-ray interpretation also are included. Methods, equipment, techniques interpretation of pulmonary function, exercise testing hemodynamic monitoring are discussed. Other topics include electrocardiography hyperbaric oxygenation. RES 142 RES 210 RES 220 RES Mechanical Ventilation II Lec: 1.5 Lab: 1.5 Credit: 2.0 This course incorporates advanced theory of mechanical ventilation. Liberation from mechanical ventilation is explored. RES 140 RES Respiratory Pharmacology This course includes a study of pharmacologic agents used in cardiopulmonary care. Indications, contraindications, hazards side effects of pharmacological agents used 6
7 to treat cardiopulmonary renal disorders are discussed. Emphasis is on agents commonly administered by the respiratory care practitioner. RES 131 RES Advanced Respiratory Pharmacology This course covers the indications, side effects hazards of pharmacologic agents used in the intensive care unit. Emphasis is on agents commonly administered by the respiratory care practitioner. RES 246 RES 161 RES Comprehensive Applications This course includes the integration of didactic clinical trainers in respiratory care technology. Current issues, problem-solving skills principles of supervision with emphasis on the role of the first-line supervisor are introduced. Students take a valid written examination clinical simulation in preparation for national examinations. RES 205 7

The student continues to refine techniques applicable to the critically ill patient with an emphasis on prolonged mechanical ventilation.
