OVERVIEW AND BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION I am a clinical research scientist with 13 years of teaching, research and clinical experience (Physical Therapy). I have been involved in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Lagos in Lagos, Nigeria and the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. My teaching philosophy is hinged on two key concepts I believe that knowledge simplification enhances comprehension and active student engagement is essential for optimal learning experience. My research focuses on the generation and implementation of knowledge that informs the prevention of sport-related injuries and consequences in youth and young adults. Specifically, my research includes developing strategies for preventing common acute and overuse injuries (e.g., patellar tendinopathy) in youth soccer and basketball, understanding the etiology of ankle sprain injury and its consequences (e.g., post-traumatic osteoarthritis), and finally, implementation research relating to how sports injury prevention evidence is best translated to practice. Ultimately, my goal is to provide a strong academic and research mentorship to students to make them the best graduates possible and establish evidence-based primary and secondary prevention interventions in sports and recreation for the greatest public health impact possible.
