This study aims at establishing a short form of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (Zimbardo & Boyd, 1999), suitable for field studies and large surveys. Method. Data from five independentsamplescomposedofcontrastedpopulations(general, elder, adolescent, deprivedandill populations; N total =905) were analyzed through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Items selection was based on psychometric qualities and content adequacy. Results. Comparison of four latentmodelsviastructuralequationmodelingrevealedthevalidityofa15 itemsversionoftheztpi, withanequivalent5 factorstructure.thisvalidatedshortformoffersausefulmeasurementtoolfor fieldandappliedstudiesinvestigatingtimeperspective. >> Martinez, F. & Fieulaine, N. Aim.Socialdesirabilitybiasandrelatedstrategiesinterventioninresponsestopsychometrictestsisa crucial issue for scientists aiming at evaluating psychosocial constructs. This study investigates how time perspective and desire for control measures are influenced by social desirability, and explores theirnormativedimensionthroughtheclassicalself presentationapproach.method.usingthemost widelyusedmeasureoftimeperspective(thezimbardotimeperspectiveinventory, zimbardo&boyd, 1999) and a measure of Desire for Control (Desire for Control Scale, Burger & Cooper, 1979), four studies indentify and examine the normative component of TP and DC. In Study 1, students (N=51) filled the ZTPI according to their own view and to the one they attributed to an average student. Study2(N=60),replicatedthispatternusingtheDCscale.InStudy3(N=46),subjectswereaskedfilled theztpiinordertocreativeapositiveimpressionforthereader, andthenfilleditasecondtimeto create a negative impression. Study 4 (N=60) replicated the former using DC scale. Results. Taken together, these findings suggest the social approval specific answering patterns received, and therefore the normative component of the constructs under study. These findings have multiple implicationsregardingdebatesrelatedtopersonalitytraitsandhowtheseconstructsshouldbeusedin psychosocialapplications.

TIMEPERSPECTIVEANDHEALTH >> Fieulaine, N. & Martinez, F. (2009). Does time perspective predict influenza vaccination? A longitudinal investigation among French elderly. 11th European Congress of Psychology, Oslo, Norway. Aim. The aim of this research is to explore how Time Perspective (TP) participates in predicting preventive health behaviors. Method. In the context of a national influenza vaccination campaign, a longitudinalstudywasrealizedamongelderlyinordertoinvestigatethedeterminantsofreachingthis cost free vaccine. 168 people (aged > 65 years) participated in a three waves study, using time

Results: After controlling for age and gender, significant links were found between time perspective and substance use. Desire for control did not appear to be directly related to substance use. The interaction effect between TP and desire for control appeared to be related to substance use. There was evidence that the relation between TP and substance use is buffered by low desire for control. APPLIEDSOCIALPSYCHOLOGY >> Fieulaine N., Kalampalikis, N. & Haas, V. (2010). Claiming rights or claiming justice: A social psychological analysis of disputes emergence. International Congress of Applied Psychology, Melbourne,Australia Aim. The process by which experiences of injustice are perceived, become grievance, and then are transformed into claims and/or disputes is in many respects a social psychological process. Hence, aimsofthisfieldstudywere1)toinvestigatehowcitizensfacinginjuriousexperiencessucceedorfail toformasenseof entitlement tosomekindofredressandassertclaimsinlegalinstitutions;2)to exploresocial psychologicalfactorsthatareimportantinthedevelopmentofdisputingbehaviors, but also in the access to rights, law, and justice. Method. A field study was conducted in free legal aid centres(«lawandjusticehouses»,and«lawshops»)inanurbanareainfrance.methodological procedure combined observations of consultations with legal consultants, semi directed interviews with the public (N=46), and a questionnaire completed by users of legal aid (N=132). Social representations of justice system, motives for claiming, and conflict trajectories were assessed. Content and lexicometric analyses for qualitative data, and correlational, factorial and configural analyses for quantitative ones were realized. Results. Emergence and transformation of disputes appeared as conditioned by three main social psychological factors: social representations, social interactions, and temporality. Shared lay knowledge about justice, interactions with surrounding people or lawyers, and time orientation together participate in the configuration of naming, blaming, and claiming stages of disputes transformation. Perceived accessibility of legal contexts and trust in legal institutions act as potential barriers in the claiming process. Conclusions. Results highlighted social psychological anchoring of individuals commitment to the legal claiming process,
