1 Farid Anvari Curriculum vitae Professional Statement To paraphrase Richard Feynman, science increases our understanding of the world by decreasing our uncertainty about it. It is uncertainty, and acknowledged ignorance even, that drives curiosity. I am a driven research psychologist with a passion for scientific research and its dissemination to the wider public. I have experience in literature reviews, theoretical and statistical modelling, scale development and psychometrics, and designing survey and experimental studies. I have conducted a mini-meta analysis and coded 2 large studies for a meta-analysis reproducibility project. I am trained in different data analysis techniques (both quantitative and qualitative) with proficiency in SPSS; and I am currently training in the use of R programming statistical software packages. I go surfing and can stand up somewhat consistently, and I hope to one day ride in the barrel of a beautiful wave one can dream. I ve recently completed an open water dive course and can now scuba dive up to a depth of 18 metres: it s almost like flying but can be quite panic inducing to begin with. Unfortunately there isn t enough time to read everything I want to read but thanks to the increasing spread of audiobooks I get through much of what attracts my attention while I wash the dishes, drive, and when I cook. I m known to immerse myself in fiction and non-fiction writings on my chosen topic until my curiosity and interests are satisfied which can take a while. And, basically, I love life, with all its ups and downs.
